My town definitely did not. My nieces high school caved and said the students could go to a memorial at the football field, but would be counted as tardy, because those are the rules. All the other high schools promised "repercussions," of which I'm not sure what those were at the end of the day.

I don't have teenagers, but I would hope that if my teen was wanting to participate and - the important part here - actually understood and stood for what the walkout was for, I would be in support, regardless of the consequences. There was a raging debate on our local mom's board today where most talked about how disrespectful this was of the teenagers.

Am I missing something? Maybe a teacher needs to explain it to me, but I found it awesome a generation (that so many like to complain about being disinterested) was involved and worked together. I think they are fed up, scared and angry, not disrespectful.
