Mine didn't! Had no interest in doing it! My mom actually cut it, and then one of the nurses offered to let my FIL trim it down (he still talks about how touched he was).

My OB cut DD's cord, DH had no interest. DH cut DS' cord because my OB didn't allow him the option of not.

No, he wasn't given the option to after my C-section.

He did! He said they asked him to and he did without thinking. He said it was like calamari - yuck!

He did, but I somehow missed it?! I don't know if I zoned out... or was concentrating on something else or what?! Wahh.. oh well, next time.

DS had to be rushed to the NICU, so my ex didn't get the chance.
DH is still flip flopping on whether or not he wants to. I told him no pressure either way, lol. I suppose he'll make a decision in the moment about it. He might be all wrapped up in the ordeal, or has seen enough gore for a while, haha.

I'm not there yet so I voted for marshmallows (which is my favourite voter option ever btw).
That is SO sweet about your FIL. How cute. Such a proud grandpa.

I voted other because I had a c-section so the Dr cut it, but left a longer amount there and then DH got to cut it down shorter.

I voted other because the doctor had to cut it because they had NICU nurses there to check her (there was meconium in my water). They let DH ceremoniously cut it though to trim it a bit.

Yes! He said he wasn't going to and that it was gross to do (he has a thing with bodily fluids/tissues). I know he is glad he did it.
@Weagle: so did mine!

I didn't vote since I haven't had the baby yet, but DH says that it is gross and he isn't going to do it. Interested to see if he changes his mind in the moment. I thought all men did, I mean they do in the movies, but I started a thread and poll about it months ago and was shocked that so many didn't.

No, things turned bad and there was no time for him too. He was really excited about it, too. He actually wanted to help deliver lol.

The doc snipped it quickly b/c they had to rush her away but dh got to do the final snip afterwards.

Nope, my husband said he thought it was gross and that he was afraid he would accidentally cut LO so my OB cut the cord.

He didn't with DD but did with DS. He didn't want to either time but the doctor just kind of shoved the scissors into his hands when we had DS.

DH wanted to, but didn't have the option to after my emergency C-section. Bummer!

For both, DH did. For DS, he actually splattered the nurse. He felt so bad, and she was like gee thanks...

We didn't discuss it prior to me going into labor. When he was asked, he jumped at the opportunity. It meant a lot to him to be able to cut the cord.

My husband had absolutely no interest, but since I had a c-section, I'm not sure if it was even an option. My husband stayed on my side of the partition...haha....he didn't want to see anything but the baby!

I was surprised mine did. LO had the cord wrapped around his neck, my ob unwrapped it and DH cut it.

Do you think any mothers ever cut their own? And that's awesome that your fil still talks bout it. It's the small things!

My husband swore he wasn't going to, but he got caught up in the moment and went for it!

He did but since it was a c-section he just got to trim it. He was really disappointed. This surprised me because last thing I heard, he didn't want to see the cord. Then I wake up from the anesthesia and he's complaining that he didn't get to really cut it but it was cool that he "sort of" did.

Mr. Hedgie says he will fight for the ability to be able to, even if it is just trimming it. We shall see!

@anonysquire: Yeah some mothers cut their own, especially at home births.
Some want to because of the psychological significance of ending pregnancy, cutting off the line that tied them together. It's emotional for them and they want to do it themselves.
Most moms don't though, just because they are busy with other things.

He did!!! Which was actually surprising. He always said that he wasn't going to but when the doctor offered he did it! He doesn't regret it
