Did your DH cut the cord? Did you want him to?
I wanted him to, and he said he wanted to, but when the time came, he said no! His loss.

Yes he did! But I was in such an out of this world moment I didn't even see him do it, even though she was laying right on me.

He didn't want to, but got caught up in the moment and just did it when the midwife handed him the scissors. He said it felt really weird.

Yes he did, and he was so scared he was going to hurt her he was shaking!

yep @Weagle: and he said the same thing! it was hard to cut, and I think they had to cut closer after he was done

I didn't care either way, but he didn't want to. He declined cutting DD's cord but kinda got pressured into cutting DS's.

No but he wanted to! The one downside of my c-section. He said he saw a lot f weird stuff to make up for it though, lol. Also, he got to hold her first!

DH is a cop (and pastor, if you've seen my other threads and are confused lol) and attended an emergency delivery once - a couple flagged him down because the wife was giving birth in the car! The ambulance wasn't able to get there for several minutes. He had to tie the cord off with his boot laces and cut it with something he had in his car, and he was seriously traumatized by the whole deal lol... he does NOT want to cut our LO's cord.

I'd want him to, and he said he wants to. Guess we'll see in August!

I also didn't care either way, and before L&D, DH said he wasn't interested. When the time came, he did end up cutting the cord. I have no memory of this, though, as I was taking in the fact that I just pushed out a person. I do remember the dr. asking my permission for the cord to be clamped because I requested delayed clamping after it stopped pulsing.

Yes! It was a lot firmer than I recall seeing in movies. He was weary about it beforehand, but when the time came he was all about it.

He wasn't going to (he was afraid he'd mess up!) but when the time came, he did!! He said it was like cutting al dente rigatoni pasta.

Nope, he had no interest in it at all. My mom actually cut it, and then my FIL trimmed it (he said he was floored when the nurse offered).

Yep! He was really involved and was able to help deliver LO and be the first person to hold her and to hand her to me, as well as cut the cord. He's said that it was something really special for him and he felt it was a privalege to be the one to separate us after we were connected for so long. I'm just glad it worked out so that he could.
Our friends husband was also looking forward to this but when he cut the cord blood sprayed all over him! I think he was a little traumatized

He didn't have a choice, the OB handed him the scissors so he couldn't back out! Haha

He said he didn't want to but when the time came he changed his mind and did it

He said he didn't want to but in the moment he did. I was glad.

I wanted him to and he didn't particularly care one way or the other. When the midwife asked him if he wanted to, he said sure. Side note, he also got to deliver the shoulders -- it's our midwife's trademark

Mine did. We were shocked that he was even given the opportunity given that we adopted. We didn't find out we would even be allowed in delivery until shortly before it happened and on the way in the room they asked who wanted to cut and without a doubt I wanted him to.

He did! As soon as Lo was born he was yelling "I'm cutting the cord" just to make sure the doctor heard him.

Hubby and my oldest cut the cord for my youngest She was so proud and excited. It's in the top 10 of my all time favourite pictures.

He wasn't given a choice. DS wasn't breathing when he came out so they had to quickly get him out and to the warming station. I don't think he would have wanted to anyway.
