I just realized today that my son is 4 months old and we've yet to buy diapers. It's customary in our circle of friends that the new dad is thrown a diaper party by the other guys. It usually consists of doing manly things, like playing pool or camping or in my husband's case, a fishing tournament. And the men all bring cases of diapers. Just wondering if this is a common thing or just something we do around here?

Nope. He got a few cute gifts at my shower, though. We opened those at the end, when family and close friends were left.

My husband didn't get one, but we threw one for one of my co-workers who was about to be a new dad. It was nice, and a neat way to feel included even though we didn't know his wife well enough to be invited to the shower.

I've heard of them. But hubs isn't having one as far as I know.

My DH's cousin did a diaper and beer party for their first kid. One of his friends brought a pack of Depends for him, lol. So he had to return it to get a box of diapers. Dh said it was just a hanging out, drinking beer type of party at the same time of the baby shower.

I've heard of these parties on the internet but have never heard of one being done within our family or social circle. I think they'd be nice though if DH had more friends to invite!

I've only known one person IRL who had one and it wa. A kegs and diapers party. I don't think DH will have one, though

I think our circle of friends' diaper parties started out as just hanging out drinking beer, but have become more elaborate in recent years. They've mostly been tournaments; poker, pool, fishing. So sometimes it's not just close friends attending. Instead you buy in with diapers. I think that's why we recieved so many. There were like 30 guys in my husbands fishing tournament.

That's not common for us. We cloth diaper though ... and we had a coed shower.

Yes, they girls went to the baby shower and all the guys got invited to a guy diaper party. They just had some beer and waited for all us to get done with the shower.
