My LO (19 months) has fallen from the Learning Tower a handful of times. Today, he leaned forward a little too much and fell down head first onto the back of his head. Thank goodness we don't have tile floors, but that looked painful! Just wondering how often, if ever, your LOs fall from the Learning Tower, or if it's only me that's a terrible parent! Haha. Even now, I have to remind him to not lift his leg up to climb...like, he didn't learn his lesson!

19 months seems awfully young for a LT . . . I only know of one that is recommended for 18 months and up (the Little Partners LT). Maybe hold off for a few months until your LO is even more steady on his feet?

We have the Little Partners learning tower and she hasn't fallen from it but we started using it when she turned 2. She climbs in easily and has to sit and turn around to get out. It's on the highest setting so it's pretty high up even for my tall 2 year old. I think it would be pretty difficult for her to climb over the top. Can you adjust the setting down so he can't get his legs over the top to climb out?

We don't have a learning tower, so I can't speak for that, but glad to hear your LO is ok.

@cranberryapple: she hasn't ever fallen from it but when she first started using it and couldn't get up and down by herself, I kept a close eye on her. Now she can get up and down by herself and I just let her hang out up there, but never leave the room if she's in it.
I'm curious how he is leaning too far over it. Would moving the bottom down a notch help?

@mediagirl: Maybe it's because my LO is a peanut that makes me hesitant to start too soon. Also, that falls have happened a few times makes me think maybe the OP's LO may not be quite ready . . . ? Don't flame me, but just being honest . . .

@mediagirl: No - I didn't think so at all! It was just sort of a general request to the HB boards at large. It was just an observation (based on the info I do have) that may not be well-received.

@MsLipGloss: @mediagirl: my son is an amazing climber at 18 months. He didn't walk until 15 months, but started climbing up on the kitchen table at 15 months and the counters at 17 months. We want a tower just to give him a productive way to channel his desire to be up high. I think the readiness thing has a lot to do with their development and their desire to practice certain skills. When I am in the kitchen my son is constantly climbing onto our table and a learning tower would help me immensely! Sadly it isn't in the budget at the moment but hopefully soon.

@MsLipGloss: mine has definitely fallen before not off the table but in trying to climv onto the chair. I think the amount of falling could also have a lot to do with how often they are trying to climb...in our case we haven't encouraged him to climb but nevertheless it is his favorite thing to do right now.

@MsLipGloss: DS has had the Little Partner's Learning Tower since he was 14 months and he started climbing in and out of it by 15 months, so I guess that's why I wasn't really concerned. For the most part, he does really well in it, but yes, admittedly, a handful of times, he has fallen from it. It's usually too fast for me to even be able to register it!
@sandy: He's a short lil' guy, but I will consider lowering it! Just hope it doesn't end up being too low. The next rung down doesn't look too low though, so this might work.

@mediagirl: I put one side of the learning tower up against the counter, but the other side is free, so perhaps he was too curious of what I was doing and leaned a little too forward, if that makes sense? Maybe he was trying to reach for something, or grab me? Not sure!
@Mrs. Sketchbook: Such a little climber! I know he'll enjoy climbing that learning tower! That's what DS likes doing as well!
