My baby grew way faster than average in utero, was 99th percentile for weight and length at birth and has maintained that at one month old...
Wondering if this will continue? And for how long?
What was your experience? Did baby sort of stay around his/her percentile for good? When did s/he fall or rise?
ETA: We're EBF. DH is tallish 6' but slim, I'm petite at 5'1. LO's size so far is extraordinary for both our families, so we don't know what to expect!

My elbow was almost exactly 50th percentile in both height and weight, but quickly ended up along the curve for 75th percentile in weight and 90th percentile in height

At birth, DD was 96th and 99th percentile for weight and height respectively. At 10 months she's 90th for weight and 94th for height.

My little guy was 10 days late so he had more time to grow vs. a two week early baby etc. He was 8lbs 14 ounces. We tried breast feeding for a while and his percentages continually dropped. He didn't hit the two week weight gain markers, and continued to be on the smaller side of things through 6 months. At his one year appointment (after solids and formula) he was suddenly back on the curve with his birth weight! He is taller than the average 2 year old and weighs as much as the average 19 month old!
I think looking at the childs height / weight as often as we do can kind of skew the big picture!

He's followed his curve and stayed in the mid-upper 90th percentiles since birth (he'll be 2 in August)

@OpinionsLikeKittens: So interesting! Glad he's thriving regardless, and hope they didn't freak you out too much with the numbers/charts/statistics along the way. You're probably right about how closely we track them.

LO was small when she was born (6lbs 7 ounces). But by 4 months she was in the 75th%ile for height and weight. But then she slowed down and at 9, 12 and 15 months she was in 25th%ile for weight and 50th%ile for height. At 18 months she was in the 60th%ile for both.

Was born around 5th percentile for weight and remains there at 21 months with some small dips and jumps along the way. His height has been all over the place though. Born around 25th percentile. Was up to 60th for a while and has been hanging out around 10th for some time now.

C started out pretty big-- 8 lbs 1 oz, and her percentiles have dropped very gradually-- not in a concerning way, just like, oh, she is just going to be a little bit of a smaller kid. She was 50th percentile for weight and 33rd for height at her 9 month appt.

@skipra: Height is so hard to measure, I'm not surprised she jumped around. They measured C as 21.5 inches at birth in the hospital. 3 days later the pediatrician could not make her 21 inches no matter how much they stretched out her leg, so I actually don't know what her length was.

DD was in the 50th ish percentile when she was born and at 15 months is around the 5th for height and weight. I'm not surprised though, me and DH are both smaller people.

It hasn't predicted anything for us.
LO was in the upper 70%/80% for both height and weight for a full year. In her second year, she dipped to 50%, then 30% and now is a little peanut in the 20% for both height and weight! She’s grown very little between 18m, and 24m. Her head circumference started out in the 95%++ categories, and it’s stayed above average.

We are other. B started at the 30th % and now at 11 months, she has slowed down to about the 10%. She has her 1 year in about 3 weeks so we will look at it again. She's really healthy, she's just small. My mom said all 4 of us were in the really low % as well. I try not to look at the chart too much as it stresses me out when I do. Then I look at my chunky monkey and know even though she's in a low % she's still a chunk haha.

DD was off the charts at birth and through four months. She has slowed a little bit to be 95% for height and 80% for weight. So still a big girl but not a Sasquatch anymore.

My LO was always towards the top of the charts, but once 2/3 hit his head and height has slightly dropped, but he's still on the high end. And his weight is right in the middle now.

Charlie was 90% a big baby for me! And he was pretty big his first year but it did slow down. Now he's at the way bottom of the charts for height and weight.
Olive was off the charts small, and she's still small weight-wise, but she's tall.

DD1 was right at the 50th percentile at birth, gradually increased up to the 90th percentile for weight by four months, and then slowly tapered off to the 50th percentile again, which is where she is now at 24 months. She has consistently stayed around the 90-95th percentile for height though.
DD2 is gigantic (@oliviaoblivia: yay for Sasquatch babies!) - 90th percentile for weight at birth and well off the charts by six weeks. Still off the charts at 4.5 months (19.8 lbs!!!) but is getting closer to the 99th percentile line. Same thing with height...

LO was 50% percentile for weight and length at birth. At 1 mo she was 75% for both.

LO was 73% weight at birth and is now 65th% (went down around 50 and crept up a little) as of 6 months (2 months ago.)
She was 58th% at birth for height and shop up to 97th%+ she's always in the 90th +

it is almost impossible to measure length when they are so young so i ignore the measurements for now.
LO was IUGR and is now over 10th %ile. so she's grown ahead of her scale but is still small.

Mine was above average for both, but has now dropped off her curve for height. It's not surprising that she's short, my husband is 5'6", I'm 5'5" and I didn't even hit 5' tall until eighth grade.

I don't know her birth percentiles but must have been above 50% - after that she was always in the 90s for height and at least 70s for weight. My pedi told us it doesn't mean much before age 2, that they can definitely slow down, but she is still almost as tall at 2.5! Big mystery because we are both short, but there are some tall people in the family so I guess the genes were in there somewhere. I still wonder if she will really turn out tall or not. I was always shortest in my class.

DS1 stayed big - usually 90%+
At his last visit - 18 months - his height was 75% and weight was 90%
He hasn't slowed down yet, really.

She was 2nd percentile at birth. Then she shot up to 50th. Now she's steady, following the curve, between 25th and 50th exactly.

Yep, DS was 8lbs 11 oz, 21.5 inches. He's always been 90%+
At 19 months he is 33 inches and 28 lbs.
DH is 6'1" and I am 5'7"

K was 90% for height at birth and about 50% for weight. Now at 10 months she's about 30% for both. Not concerning, she's just small.
