My mom never did my hair so I had regular straight hair. Sometimes with bangs. I used to wear a headband for years too.
I love putting up Olive's hair, but she doesn't always let me do it. I hope she lets me as she gets older!

Yup, I had a tight french braid every day once my hair was long enough. Sometimes I would be allowed to wear pigtails too, but my hair was never just down.

She braided it every single day and it was the worst thing ever. I always wanted to wear my hair down, but it's curly and got tangled if I did.

She would put it in pigtails or half pigtails. When I got a little older, I would sleep in soft curlers the night before photo day. Too bad my curls would always fall 30 minutes later.

All the time. I've got thick kinky hair, so it was a must for her to do it. Braids, twists, puffs, straightening it--she did it all. It was definitely a bonding experience and I can't wait to have that with my LO. She needs to hurry up and grow some more hair!

My mom did my hair every day. I remember Dippity Do and sponge rollers being used nearly every evening for most of my childhood.

Every chance my mom got, she styled my hair! I can remember being 8 or 9 and her crimping or braiding my hair before church, ugh! I just wanted to sleep in

Yes, every day until I demanded that she stop. I have really thick, curly hair. I put my foot down when she tried to send me to school in pigtails in seventh grade.

She did my hair daily until I was about 9. Her favorite thing to do was put my hair in pony tails and braid ribbon through them to coordinate with my clothes. Every once in a while I was allowed to wear my hair out. I would suffer that evening when it was time to detangle it though.

Every day! Always braids or pigtails. It hurt so much because she would pull and the braids were always so tight so my hair wouldn't get loose during the day.

No. I didn't live with her. My dad and I were the only ones up when I was getting ready for school, so he would brush it for me.

Not on the regular, but for special occasions or when I'd request putting curlers in at night. I was also very particular about my hair, to the point that one time she curled it before an elementary concert but I didn't like it, so I wetted it all down two minutes before leaving the house. That was a LONG car ride.
Then there was the "era of the home perm," which we just don't talk about.

My mom never did my hair and now that I'm about to have a little girl I'm nervous because I have no idea how to braid hair or do any fun stuff. I hope she likes the messy bun look because that's all I've got!

My mom did french braids for me when I was little, or those pony tails where you flip it through the elastic? Topsy tail or something? When I was 13 or so she tried to cut my bangs and it was tragic. After that I did my own hair

Yes and she was super good at it. I hope I can get good at it too and do nice brains and such in my possible future daughter's hair one day just like she did.

Not really, I remember when she brushed my hair it hurt so bad! She just raked that brush through there, ouch! I usually did my hair either into a pony tail (always VERY bumpy), or a side half pony tail. I thought I looked so cool, lol.

This reminded me of my cute 5 year old cousin at my shower two weeks ago though. She has GORGEOUS ringlet curls. Before the shower her mom sprayed her hair and brushed it (and they just fall into ringlets... I am so jeally) and I said "Keri you have such pretty curls, I wish my hair was like yours!" She goes "So, have your mom brush your hair and it will be!" HA! If only it were that simple.

Yes but my mom was a licensed hair dresser so there weren't any horror stories that I can remember.
I fix DD's hair almost every morning but it is a battle because she inherited my mom's super-sensitive scalp so brushing even the littlest tangle sends her into a fit.

No, my mother never did my hair. Surprisingly, it was my father. He would always make sure to do a simple braid or part our hair in the middle before we went off to school. My sister and I loved the braids but hated the parting in the middle of our forehead. lol

Once every two weeks. Until I was about 13 my mom would wash and braid my hair. It was our Sunday ritual and I loved every second of it. Even when the braids were too tight and I didn't want to be bothered because I had a lot of thick, curly hair to wrangle.

She and my dad both did our hair. My dad was really good at braids, my mom was good with curlers and crimpers. I can't wait for DD to grow more than her wimpy mullet!

My dad did my and my sister's hair and he was awesome! He is some kind of French braid master. He says it came from being the youngest of 6...His sisters forced him to play beauty shop with them
