My mom had her tubes tied after I was born by C-section. She was always sad about it because she wanted to have another kid (a few years later)but didn't want to deal with a reversal!

Definitely not. My mom is pretty anti most birth control (and now most of her daughters are on it and all have used it!).
She is also that woman who says things like, oh, she'll change her mind, when an adult woman claims to never want to have children. I love my mom, but sometimes...

My mom had a total hysterectomy when I was 17.

She got them tied with my little brother. He was her 5th baby, her only boy, and her only c-section. She was 100% done and told the docs to make it official while they were fishing for baby bro.

I don't think mine did, but I've never asked. Probably not since I found birth control pills once in her makeup bag...I remember being SCANDALIZED at the thought that my parents have sex. (when I was like 12ish)

My mom got hers tied when I was in middle school (I think). She wanted to stop taking the pill.

@tororojo: Probably it's because my mom is so anti birth control, but the thought of a mom on the pill is so weird to me! Which is, of course, very mature.

@Foodnerd81: My mom took BCP for the first time with her tubes tied, while she was separated and single, and over fifty years old, haha! Talk about mind-bending. (She wasn't paranoid; her perimenopausal bleeding was extreme.)

Yep, she had it done i think just a few weeks after she had my brother and sister! I thnk having twins really did it for her

My mom did and so did I. I know I am probably the only one on hellobee. They did mine during my c section.

My Mom didn't, because my Dad got a vasectomy. I will get my tubes tied after baby #3 (with the c-section) if we decide to go to 3 ... if we decide to stop after #2, DH will get the snip.

No. My mom wanted a fourth, I was her third. They stopped after me because they wanted to be able to have a nicer lifestyle, take nice vacations, etc. and they knew they couldn't afford that with 4, but I know she wouldn't have been happy getting her tubes tied.
My friend just had hers tied after her c-section after her 2nd baby. I almost cried walking out of the hospital after hearing that..... I know they're 2 and done but for me it would break my heart to know that I could never have another baby.

@Minnie_Girl: Same exact thing with my mom! Had it done during her only c-section, her 5th baby and only boy!! But, she only had one functioning tube due to an eptopic pregnancy before she got pregnant with me (i am the oldest).

Nope, my dad got snipped instead. My sister has her tubes tied though. She had it done when she had her third, right after her c-section.

Yup she had it done after her 4th child. My youngest brother was conceived while she was on BCP so I don't think she wanted to risk it again.

My mom did after my sister was born (her second child).

Yep, my mom did it after they had my little brother (her third). Apparently, my Dad was supposed to get a vasectomy but missed his appointment and didnt reschedule it again right away in the meantime my little brother was conceived due to my mom's diaphragm failing. I guess after that she decided not to depend on my Dad for the birth control so she got her tubes tied instead.

@spaniellove: I have four but I knew for sure that I was done so no regrets at all. @artbee: It was weird to think I could never be pregnant again. As my belly shrunk I admit I was a little sad, and still hormonal, but now 10 months out I am glad I did it. Four is plenty for me!!!!

@Oceanis723: I realize that people do it and are happy with it. I'm sure 2 is plenty for my friends. It's just weird for me because it's not my mindset, I could never think like that and would never be happy doing it. I'm a person who always wants to know that there could be more babies in my future.

Yes, after my younger sister was born, she had a c-section as well so they did it at the same time. They knew they were done at 3 kids even without getting a boy!

Yes she got it done when I was born by c-section. I was the unexpected #3 and she was already 35 and done with having babies.
