some....they used to tell us there was a "parent tax" so they got to steal a few choice bars for taking us trick-or-treating. I'm totally going to "parent-tax" E's candy for a snickers!

My mom would sneak some. I think you have a right to as a parent though.

My Dad always wanted a snickers. Obviously, he had to test them to "make sure they wereb't poison". Also, the "candy witch" would come in the night and steal candy (but would always steal the kind Mom and Dad liked!

@artbee: But my mom would literally eat ALL of mine! Ah well, better for her to have the sugar and fat than me, right? I just wasn't thinking that way as a little kid!

my mom tried to, but I was a stickler...I counted as soon as I got home from trick or treating and kept a list! HAHA I knew if anything was missing.
if she or my dad asked, though, I'd give them a piece.

My parents "policed" the candy. I think we were allowed 2-3 pieces a day or something. Now my father owned a construction company so during the 90's he was building large housing developments. He would take us trick-or-treating there and we would get TONS of candy. More than a pillowcase worth. Somehow though we never had candy until Christmas...so my assumption as an adult would be yes, they ate it

@Andrea: Oh that's not cool! My mom would sneak a few pieces here and there. I would know because I would sort it out so I knew how much of each kind I had. But my mom is such a chocolate lover it was pretty much expected.

My parents only like gross candy so they ate all the ones I hated and that was a win win. I loved the sugary, chewy stuff and my mom ate the gross coconut or caramel stuff.

Nope but my grandfather would charge each of us grandkids 2 mini-hershey bars for allowing us to trick or treat at his house

My dad would sometimes snag a Reese’s or two but other than that they didn’t! My mom ate the leftover candy that she’d bought for the trick or treaters.
