Whenever I wanted to try something when I was a kid, my parents would never say no. Whether it was raw oysters at a party, sardines from a can at the grocery store or candied grasshopper, if I asked to try it, they would always let me. Sometimes it wouldn't be right away - like lobster. I asked for lobster once and I had to wait till they went on sale, then we got them.

I think the fact that I was interested in everything as a kid and they let me try everything has made me more of an adventurous eater in my adulthood.

How about you? Did your parents help you foster a love for food or did you find a love for food on your own? Maybe you're a picky eater because of your childhood? Discuss.
