Nope, they broke it for me at the hospital when I was at 6cm

Broke 3 weeks early, but I was at home. I didn't have any contractions.

Nope, they had to break it for me with what I thought were chopsticks. It was way into labor, maybe right before I started pushing, and they were getting ready to break it when I asked why they had chopsticks out. Eegads.

Yep! I was all checked in at the hospital before my contractions started.

Yes! My water broke while I was sleeping and I heard a loud "pop!" My bag was packed and we left to go to the hospital. I didn't have a single contraction until we were in the hospital parking lot...then they came quick and fast--I delivered DS less than 3 hours later! I had been at a 3 and 100% effaced since 36 weeks.
Terrified my water will break at work this go around!

Yup, my water broke at 4am. I was also worried that it would break while at work!

Mine broke on its own about an hour after I checked in at the hospital. I'd been in some form of labor for about 20 hours by then.

Yes! I thought water breaking was the unicorn of labors, but it's more common than that. I teach, so I was terrified of it happening in front of my class, but fortunately it happened at night, in bed...

Nope, mine broke naturally in the hospital during labour.

With DS, yes... I was brushing my teeth and my contractions only started 1 1/2 hours later. With DD my water broke after I had been having contractins for an hour or two.

No mine broke when I hit about 5cm. I am scared every time I stand up its going to break though!

Yup, and it broke at work! I had my first major gush (I had a few of these) when I got to my car for lunch at noon, and my contractions didn't start until 9pm.

I started working from home 2 weeks before my edd because my MW recommend it. I am glad she did! My water broke at 38w5d while I was squatting to changeover a load of laundry. That was at 3:30 pm Tuesday. Contractions started at 4:30 am Wednesday and DD wasn't born until after noon on Thursday.

Yup totally random, but at home. I was fully dilated about 3 hrs later!

Yep. In the shower! It was only leaking, so I was a bit confused at first!

Yep, I was watching tv and all the sudden heard a pop and felt a gush. Contractions started about an hour later, just after I got to the hospital, and I was ready to push about four hours after that.

I think I was having contractions for a few hours before that but they weren't "real". All I felt was a tightening. I got up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and felt a pop and a stream came out as I was getting up off the toilet. I laid back down in bed, in a bit of denial, and then felt the first real contraction about 3 min later.

Nope! It broke while the doctor was prepping to break it. Nothing like waiting until the last minute!

My contractions were caused by Pitocin during the induction. They had me do a practice push after hours of contractions which caused my water to break.

Mine broke while I was at home on the couch. Two weeks early. Contractions started after I got to the hospital. I didn't even have a bag packed, just a list of what I needed to pack! Plus I drove myself to the hospital. DH had taken me out to dinner and by the time we needed to go he had 1.5 beers so he didn't want to drive.

Nope. I never experienced my water breaking. I was induced with both kiddos, and had my water broken by my doctor.

Yes 3 weeks early. Contractions didn't start until about an hour or so later.

Mine broke when I start pushing 4 1/2 hours into a 5 hour labor.

My water broke before a contraction with one of my three children.

#1 was broken at 5cm by the dr after days and days in l&d. He was delivered shortly afterwards.
#2 was broken after my induction stopped the contractions, they started immediately after that.
#3 broke on it's own while the dr was on her way up to break it! Contractions were pretty strong immediately afterwards.

Mine broke on the couch about 4 hours before my scheduled induction. I was just reading and heard a pop then felt a gush. Contractions started within 5 minutes. I work on my feet though, and I was terrified that my water would break at work.

yup, both times. first time I had contractions right away afterwards, and baby in my arms 11.5 hours later. second time I had no contractions for 5 hours, then a baby 6 hours after that!
pear / 1571 posts
Nope, never in 3 labors. With my first, it broke in early labor, 18 hours before he was born. With #2, it broke about 2 hours before she was born. And it didn't break until about 7 minutes before the birth with #3. Side note: soooooooo much easier laboring with it intact!
