Nope! Even with #2's labour progressing as quickly as it was, they had to break my waters.

Only one baby but my water broke at around 5 cm while I was laboring in the jacuzzi.

My water broke sometime after 45 hours of labor with LO1. I didn't feel it and it was just a trickle since LO's head was blocking it's release. The midwife had to push LO back in with some sort of stick to release the water. Not super comfortable. At least that really got labor going.
I'm hoping for a more classic water breaking experience with LO2.

The doctor broke mine at about 7 cm with LO. We'll see in the near future with this LO.

@loveisstrange: me too! I hope it is the same when we have #2. So much easier.

My OB broke mine with DD1....we'll see with this one. My mom's broke on its own both times!

My water broke at 34w3d with dd1. It did not break with DD2. I made it to 39 weeks when I had a RCS.

Both times my water broke before contractions. For my mom it was the same way, seems it can be genetic.

It broke own my own the first time and the doctor broke it the second (induction) and third time (natural labor, reached 9.5 cm's and it still didn't break yet).

Following!! My water broke at 38+6 with DS and I had to be induced. Hoping it doesn't break first this time.

My broke after I'd been in labor all day, and had been checking into the hospital and they were getting the monitors set up. It was a very noticeable pop and then gush. Glad it was in the hospital bed, not my bed or the car!

@Greentea: That's what happened to me too. A dr came in to check things out and "oops! I broke your water!"

Kind of. Bag broke completely with DD, bag broke at home with DS but found out at the hospital that it only partially broke, so they had to break the rest. Didn't even know that was possible!

It broke on its own both times shortly before/while pushing. With my second it was 3 pushes, first one broke my water and the other two brought the baby.

I guess so, but with DD1, it broke just as the midwife was checking dilation - she didn't break it, it just happened as she was about to check. Turns out I was 10 cm dilated at that point anyway so good timing!
With DD2, it broke on its own after some very mild contractions had been going on for a few hours. After it broke though, it was all systems go with labour progressing fast and furiously!

with #1, it broke when I started pushing. #2 my water broke first then contractions.

Water broke first with one (barely a trickle) then contractions came. Contractions first with two and water broke en route....huge gush!!!
persimmon / 1458 posts
Yes mine did with both pregnancies. With my first it woke me up out of my sleep with a loud popping sounds and a major gush but I didn't deliver until late the next afternoon. With my second I was already in the hospital with intense contractions and it broke with a huge gush and little guy was born 20 minutes later.

Nope! They broke my water at 8 cm with #1, and while I was pushing with #2! I guess my water doesn't like to break on its own.
