I put mittens on my LO's hands on and off until she was 3 months old.

Nope, but he's got super dry hands that have already cracked and bleed ( poor guy) so we slather them with Eucerin and pull his sleeves over his hands (he's so tiny and all his clothes are so big there's plenty of room).

I did on and off for the first month or so. DS always figured out how to take them off so I ditched them early. I'd randomly throw them on when I saw a scratch.

Nope, she would get really pissed off and wouldnt leave them on.

No, our pediatrician said not to bc it inhibits their motor development! Not sure it makes a difference when they are that young but I just listened to her.

Only for the car ride home from the hospital. She never kept them on so we never bothered. The nurse at the hospital said that it didn't really matter, her nails couldn't scratch her eyes.

Nope, we didn't bother. She didn't scratch herself and it was one less thing to worry about.

No, he was in the NICU so he couldn't wear mittens and by the time we took him home he was used to having access to his hands.

I only put them on her to keep her tiny hands warm when we went out a few times.

I never did. She didn't scratch herself until she got older and was moving around a ton.

We don't plan to because I've been told it keeps them from being able to use their hands, so it can slow development that way. Not sure if it's true but I can see why it might be.

Not really, they would fall off. Now that it's winter though, I put a warm fuzzy pair on her when she sleeps. Otherwise her hands feel so cold in the morning! I forget who gave me the mittens, but they stay on great!

Yes LO wears mits all the time because his nails grow super fast and I can't keep up! So, we do it to prevent him from scratching himself
@littlek: you're son is so adorable:) I zoom in on his picture all the time and go, "awww!"

No, what's the deal with that, do a lot of children really scratch their faces? They're so uncoordinated at that age. I'd worry about their development with their hands always covered.

Nope, they said it was a choking hazard in the childcare class I took while pregnant. She also lives sucking in her fists! I bought a thick pair for when its cold outside and we're carrying her somewhere though.

No, never bothered to. I just always made sure her nails were trimmed.
@andrea: Our ped said the same thing! She also told us that jumpers are bad for hip development so we never put our son in one. We should've though. Would've made life a lot easier at times.

@banana: oh shoot for real? I didn't know about jumpers. DD used that thing for 45 min at a time! Hmmm, gotta look into that for #2.
