We had a low key 1st birthday, though we had quite a few people come to our house. I love how parties are an excuse to get friends together, and am contemplating having a bigger party for LO's second now that she/we have made friends with people in our neighbourhood.
I figure the parties will get smaller as she gets older. Did you have a big/small party?

We didn't really do anything for his first birthday, so for his 2nd I would like to do an actual party, and invite some of his friends now that he actually has friends! We have a while though (Oct).

Usually in my family, we do a small party with mainly family. I'm sure we'll start to do this going forward and invite just a few friends. It usually ends up being something low key where people come over for dinner and some drinks. Since DS has a mid November birthday. I envision we'll have people over the weekend after Thanksgiving so that everyone is in town.

Nope! We're doing more for their first birthday, so I have zero intention of doing more than a cake, some balloons, and some grandparents for their second.

Nope-- we had a big 1st birthday at our home with friends and family. For 2nd, we'll be going to the pool with our immediate family (ILs and my mom) since her birthday is in July, and then dinner at Rainforest Cafe or something similar.

We didn't do a lot for her 1st so we had party at a play gym for her 2nd.

We had a decent sized party for his first and I'm definitely not going to that much work again! Maybe having immediate family over, but maybe not even that.

It will be the same size. I just have a big family and they all expect to be invited. I just won't do as much decorating.

For R's 2nd bday we just invited our friends over for a BBQ. R had no friends so it was more for us! Lol!

Big first party with family+friends, probably just family for the second one

big - red egg (100+ people friends family)... small - 1st party (20 people close family and friends)... medium size - 2nd party (45 people some family and friends)
When LO was 1 we knew no one that had kids.... now that LO is 2 we know a ton of people with kids and were invited to their first birthdays ... so this second birthday got bigger because of that. *shrugs*
Next year will probably cut out people that don't have kids at all. Which should make 3rd year smaller unless the no kids people have kids

Nope, we had a big party for her first birthday and plan on just doing a small celebration with grandparents for her second.

We had a party for her 1st birthday (20 people) and at the moment we won't have a party for her 2nd, I think we might just take her to the zoo and meet up with grandparents for dinner. It's in September though so have a while to decide!

We just kept it to grandparents and aunts and uncles (3), we aren't big party people.

Yeah, we are. Not huge, but we sent out 27 invitations and are expecting about 15 kids to come with their parents, plus some of our friends without kids.
Before we lost our last pregnancy, we were expecting a baby very close to Liam's 2nd birthday, so we weren't planning on having a party for him at all. But after our loss, I needed a distraction and something to look forward to, so we decided to have one.
