What's the difference between 24 months and 2T? Does it vary by brand? I need to get C some fleece pjs and I like the target Carter's ones but they go straight from 18m to 2t. Wondering if they will be way too big.
I thought they were similar size but 24 m are shorter and wider while 2t are longer and narrower. C is kind of short and chubby. 18m fit now but since I'm buying for winter want to go up a size.

Your right because 24 months is geared towards kids that wear diapers and 2T is for those in underwear (slimmer cut)

I have found that the toddler sizes (2T, 3T, etc.) are MUCH narrower and also longer. It's been very hard to find pants for my "solid" 2 year old who is not potty trained. His 24 month Carter's pants still fit in the waist/hips but are way too short, but when I bought 3T, I couldn't even get them over his hips:( I find Gap tends to run a little wider.

2T is definitely longer and slimmer, from what I've found. Good point about the diaper, @Mamaof2!

@SeptMomma12: What brands of pants do you buy? My nearly 17 month old has a little pot belly, which makes buying pants that are not sweat pants tough. Poor kid looks like he just gave up every day!

@SeptMomma12: @ESPION: I find H&M to be good for that. Granted D is only 21 months, but he's still able to wear 9-12 month H&M pants over his cloth diaper butt...and I just stopped having to roll them up.

@Espion: I am laughing over here at the "just gave up everyday" comment. That's all. 
I feel like it's easier with girls, because I put her in leggings a lot which are more forgiving. Too long? Doesn't matter because they just bunch up at the ankles. Looser pants that are too long go under her heels and trip her.

I have such problems with pants right now too. LO is nearly 20 months and the 24 month and 2T tops fit great depending on the style and brand, but the pants.... ugh. In the waist he is OK in 18 months but the length he needs closer to 12 month pants. And he is in the 95th percentile for height!!!

@Espion: Haha. I find Gap to be the best for his body type. Gymboree is good too though their stuff tends to run big all over. Carter's/OshKosh is terrible for him. Also, LO had a HUGE pot belly around that age but sometime right before he turned 2, it virtually disappeared, almost overnight.

@Mamaof2: thank you! I think I've found nearly a solution and this explains it. My skinny minnie fits some 2Ts better than 18 or 24M because things are always falling down her waist/butt, even with diapers on. Noticed 2T pants at Gymboree seemed to fit narrower and better even though they're a size up.
