We are finally getting rid of our dining room table and chairs that were passed down to us when my parent's moved. The chairs are falling apart and uncomfortable and I am ready for an upgrade. I love upholstered chairs but I am wondering with LO's, if it is stupid to get them. If you have upholstered chairs, are there any that clean well and are durable?

I have upholstered chairs and after 6 months of LO refusing to sit in a high chair or booster, they are DISGUSTING. Never again!! If you plan on having LO sit in them, I would definitely either get wood/plastic, or have removable cushions.

We just got some from World Market. I waited for a sale. We have them in our dining room so they aren't used every day. When we do have DS sit in them, we put a giant towel over the entire thing.

Definitely wouldn't! Even without kids I don't understand it because I even drop food on accident.

We have upholstered chairs, but we also don't usually eat with Xander at the dining table!! We have a plain wooden table with chairs in our kitchen and that's where Xander eats the majority of his meals. If we do eat at the dining table, I bring one of the plain chairs out for him to use (his booster is attached to a plain chair).

I would never do upholstered, even for adults! People's jeans rub off on it, they spill, no thank you!

Thoughts on "leather" upholstered chairs? My guess would be those wipe easily?

@brady80: if I ever have to buy more dining room chairs I am going to get more C+B Loews. If I didn't already own a set of Loews, I would get C+B Folio, which are a bit fancier for formal dining.

We have upholstered but I think they're microfiber so they are easy to wipe!

i have fabric chairs because they're super comfy and the covers are removable so I just spray on some stain remover, and wash. I just don't put them in the dryer because if they shrink, I'm screwed. So I air dry them and then blast them with the steamer for a few seconds to soften them up since they get a little crunchy if you air dry. My chairs are cream and even with a 2 year old, I don't have stains on them.

@brady80: are you interested in ones with just an upholstered seat or the whole chair? you could have specific kid chairs and throw an ugly plastic cover on those ones, when the chair is pushed under the table you don't see it.
