Okay never been to disney land . But I've been to disney world 15+ times. I love staying on site at their resorts. There is just so much to do - 4 parks, 2 waterparks, downtown disney etc etc! I'm going back next month and can't wait

i've never been to disneyland, to me there will always be only one disney world and nothing could live up to it

Been to both and Disney World is definitely better.
Let me talk to my DH and he will write you an essay on why it is better. He's just a tiny bit obsessed about Disney. He goes every 3 years with his 2 best friends. Yeah, when we have kids, he'll be pushing our kids out of the way to get in line. Oh, we are going to Disney World this August! I know it's not Disney but I can't wait to see Harry Potter World at Universal.

Disneyland! Can't beat the original. Plus it has California Adventure across the way which is amazing, especially with all the updates they've made in the past couple of years.

I went to Disneyland for the first time over New Years. Seeing that, DisneyWORLD hands down!

Disneyland.... Southern California weather beats Florida weather any time of the year. Sorry... I'm biased.

I grew up 5 mins away from Disneyland, could hear the fireworks every night from my bedroom window, ended up working there through college... with all that said, WDW is "better" if you're looking for an overall experience.
There's more to do (4 parks, 2 waterparks, about a billion resort hotels for different budgets), it was built in the middle of nowhere for a better "Disney" experience (you literally walk out the front gates of Disneyland and you're hit with a bunch of dingy hotels on Harbor Blvd.), and there's a bigger variety of entertainment with the different parks. Disneyland will always have a special place in my heart, but it's just different-- smaller, original, old school.

I'm so biased since we got to DisneyWorld weekly..... But I'd love to visit Disneyland someday! DH says that's not a good enough reason to go to California, but I disagree!
@MrsH: yes! In December we saw 3 different groups that had had drinking around the world team shirts made. I thought that was pretty awesome

@MrsRoo: we did it a couple of years ago and it was my favorite vacation day EVER. It is what I compare all vacations too.
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
@MrsRoo: @HabesBabe: If we go in the future I've been considering Disneyland because we want to visit California. Like if we did a one-week vacation, do 2 days at disneyland, and do other things in CA like legoland, or have a beach day.
But if we wanted a whole week of Disney, I guess DW would be the way to go.

@Mrs. Pen: Yeah, I worked at the nicest hotel in the resort and we would occasionally get guests who would stay for a whole week... but they would usually spend a day or two at Universal Studios, Sea World, the SD Zoo, etc.! I don't think there's enough to do at Disneyland for a whole week. I think 2-3 days would be the perfect amount for a first timer (1 day at each park and then the 3rd day to catch up on anything you missed or wanted to experience again).

@HabesBabe: We are neighbors!!!!!!!
Seriously.... I don't know why anyone would want to do an entire week of Disney. The only way I would do that is at the Aulani hotel in Hawaii. And so true that Disneyland is in a shit neighborhood. An Anaheim police dog just got shot yesterday not too far away!

@MrsMcD: HOLLLAAAAA OC represent!
Uh yeah, a whole week of Disneyland is cray cray. Granted, these people could afford to stay at the Grand, on the concierge level for a whole week, so they sure as hell could afford to hire a towncar to take them to Universal, the beach, South Coast, San Diego, etc. on half of the days, too. I think a week at WDW would be manageable, but a week at the Aulani sounds like absolute bliss.

@HabesBabe: Hooray! Did you ever hang out at Disneyland around 1996 or 1997?? So lame, but I did and it was awesome. And I do love Fullerton!
grapefruit / 4400 posts
@MrsMcD: I didn't but my husband had an annual pass in junior high (we grew up in Garden Grove) and would hang out by the stage in Tomorrowland, trying to "scam" with girls. LOL!

Disneyworld! Never been to Disneyland, but DW is so magical I cannot imagine a better place on Earth. Why is DW so fab? Cinderella's Castle!

@bluestriped bee: Harry Potter is hands down the best ride ever in the history of real or simulated rides. You will not be dissappointed. Mr. Lime and I have experienced it several times. Too bad you can't just jump right back on after getting right off. We tried the Butter Beer both ways...frozen is the way to go.

I've never been to disneyworld so I'm biased to old school Disneyland. I think if you want to visit California and do other things that are nearby, Disneyland is a good option. If you want to do just Disney, then I bet world is better.

DisneyWorld just because it's the only one I have been to! I went to DisneyLand when I was little so I can't remember it.

Disneyworld! Because there are more to do than just Disney.

Disneyland; the original with all the history can't be beat by the knockoff!
(Been to both - can't believe how many people vote without having been to both, that's kind of cheating )

@Mrs. Pen: when we take our kids it will definitely be a week trip just because of airfare $$. But we definitely won't spend all week at Disney or any of the other parks! At least half of it I think will be just relaxing at a beach somewhere and rent a beach house.
I think start at Disney then end at the beach.

@bluestriped bee: I am so like your DH, it boggles my mind that this question is even being asked. Disney World is DISNEY WORLD.
Disneyland is 65 acres. Disney World is about 30,000 acres! As for the discussions about how you can spend a week at Disney...yeah, maybe not at Disneyland, but have you people ever been to Disney World?! There's Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, 3 water parks, mini golf, Downtown Disney which has tons of stores, restaurants, Disneyquest, Cirque du Soleil, etc. You can visit different hotels and watch animals on a Disney-created savannah, learn how to hula dance, go on carriage rides, check out the Boardwalk which has awesome entertainment, sit around a campfire and to make smores and hear stories, rent different kinds of water vehicles....I could go on and on and on forever. We always spend at least 5 days at Disney World and I've still never made it to the water parks and have only been to Disneyquest once!

@locavore_mama: wait... then do you mean disneyland? Disneyland is California, disneyworld is Florida. The reason I lean more toward disneyland is because I would want to do other things, like a day at the beach, legoland etc.
I think I have only ever been to one part at disneyworld (blizzard beach) when I was 14, but that was only one day, we also went to universal studios. But if you go to Florida, there isn't much else to do unless you make the drive to the beach which is a couple hours away I think.
clementine / 958 posts
@Mrs. Pen: Orlando is an hour drive from the Atlantic coast of Florida. Kennedy space center and cocoa beach would be super fun additions to a Disneyworld trip.

Disney World is better in my opinion. It's so much bigger and there is a lot more stuff. Also the castle is way better. Although I like New Orleans Square in Disneyland way better than Liberty Square in WDW.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I agree it's pretty realistic/fun if you're into those kind of rides but I'd like to just warn those prone to motion sickness! I get motion sick pretty easily so the ride was torture for me. Also tried the butter beer and was disgusted but it's just one of those things you have to try for yourself as part of the experience. I sound like a real Debbie downer don't I?
@Mrs. Pen: Florida has tons of really beautiful natural springs everywhere if you're into that. Sightseeing, kayaking, swimming, etc. One of those less than an hour away from Orlando is Blue Springs. I've seen manatees mere feet away while I was there!

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Cool. Can't wait to try the butterbeer! Thanks for the tips.
@Meow: Oh, no. I'm glad you mentioned motion sickness. I'm pretty sensitive. That's so disappointing. But it's my own damn fault... well, in my genes (my mom has it pretty bad, too). I can't ride half the rides because of it. But, I'll definitely try it once and hope that it's not too bad. If it comes down to it, I might consider taking a dramamine, so I'm not a complete party pooper.

@wonderstruck: Yeah, I'm pretty sure DH would be in disbelief, right now, if he saw these answers. Maybe I won't tell him about this thread, so I don't piss him off. Haha.
