There are pros and cons to both.

    Disneyland
+California weather is so much more pleasant
+Lots more to do in LA!
+California Adventure park is next door
    -Smaller

    DisneyWorld
    +Waaaaaaay huger
    +Lots more parks like Epcot
+Tons of other theme parks nearby like Seaworld
    +Tons of outlet shopping nearby!
-FLORIDA WEATHER (I can't stand the heat and humidity!)

@bluestriped bee: I get horrible motion sickness, and I always take motion sickness meds before going to amusement/theme parks. It's much more fun that way

@owlmom: I need to remember to bring some on my trip. When I get sick, I also get grumpy. I don't know why I didn't think to take meds beforehand. Well, probably because the last trip was to Disneyland and it was the worse I've been. DH would go on rides without me and I would just kill time by shopping and eating.

@Meow: well, we are just the opposite on this Harry Potter thing! Did you at least like the walk through the castle?

OMG the Harry potter ride made me SO sick, I couldn't do anything else for an hour and felt queasy for the whole day. I thought I would be fine since I love Soarin at Epcot and don't usually get motion sickness!

I did enjoy the walk through though, all the shops were neat and the wand show was pretty cool. I went with a Harry potter fanatic so it was fun to see it through her eyes. I prob wouldn't go back because it was very $$ admission and I'm more of a disney girl myself

@HabesBabe: @MrsMcD: hi neighbors!!! Not as close as you two, but close enough. I used to go to DL once a week in the late 90s/early 2000s.

And, I agree CA > FL

    For quality, Disneyland.
    For quantity, Disney World.

I've felt like the places where they overlap (the Magic Kingdom, basically - It's a Small World, Space Mountain, Mr Toad's Wild Ride) - Disneyland does it better. For a short trip or trip with kids who will focus time in that area anyway, I'd go with Land. But for a wider experience with more options, or a longer trip, it's gotta be the World.

I live in the South so I've been to Disney World multiple of times. My husband had a business trip out in LA so I tagged along, stayed over the weekend, and went to Disney Land. It's basically smaller and the same thing. I was def disappointed. We should have gone to California Adventure instead.

I've been to both and I MUCH prefer Disneyland. I'm from CA though and have been going since I was little. My main reasons for liking it better though are; weather is better in California, the historical aspect of Disneyland is magical (I'm such a cheesy kid at heart lol), California Adventures is a blast and there's a lot more to do in Southern California if you're there for vacation...you can always do the beach, Sea World, San Diego Wild Animal Park, etc etc etc

I've only been to Disneyland but from the perspective of an international tourist, Disneyland is much more accessible and affordable (bith in terms of flights and time constraints)! DH and I spent almost a week in Anaheim and did two days at the Disney parks, Universal Studios, Knotts Berry Farm and a day trip to the San Diego Zoo. DH also struggles a bit with crowds so the smaller size of Disneyland was also a plus for us.

With all that bring said I still have a dream to take my family to Disneyworld at some stage!!

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: To be honest, I don't remember much of the castle. Again, not to detract from the thread and I hate to be such a downer but the whole thing was a bit of a disappointment cause it was smaller than I expected and most stores were exterior only. I'd love to go to the actual WB set in England one day.

@Meow: yes, once you lay eyes on Cinderella's Castle there isn'isn't much to see, but just that moment is priceless.

Been to both. World is way better. Walt Disney created Land first and said when he did World he was going to plan better and do it right. He did. Other parks nearby too.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: gotcha, I thought you were asking about the walk through while waiting for the HP ride, not the Cinderella castle. The HP walk through isn't a castle, oops.
