My grandmother always asks P if we pinched her when she fusses. I kinda hate it but I know she doesn't mean any harm... infact if she knew it bothered me she'd probably feel guilty for ever having done it.

I have never heard anything like that but it would piss me off if I heard it! That is so incredibly rude!

Is it weird that I say it about myself? LO isn't here yet, but when my nephews were babies and fussing I'd always say, "mean aunt Sarah, making you cry," or something of the sort. I'd never say it to someone else though! Well, maybe about DH when our LO gets here but I know he wouldn't take offense

@katsupgirl: no, literally...people think it's oK to say *anything* as long as its in a baby voice and to a baby.
So rude...& negative...just needs to stop.

Meh. People say it. Doesnt bother me. I say it about myself sometimes like "awww, C, youre crying because mommy took that marker from you? I know, im so mean."

I think theyre just teasing. Id save your energy and just ignore it.

i'm okay with it too. i think people are just joking when they say it - like its a complete exaggeration of what you are doing. i say it to my husband when she is crying/fussing and he is holding her. "Is daddy torturing you?" by "torturing" i mean that he's really not doing anything at all or he's trying to get her dressed or something totally harmless.

My mom will call me mean mommy when I do things like make lo get shots. I just correct her and say I'm a nice mommy because I am keeping my lo from getting sick.
