I have made laundry and dishwasher detergent. and for window cleaner we use vinegar and water. found them all on pinterest. Its so nice not to spend a ton of money on those things anymore!

I've been making my own laundry and dishwasher detergent for a few years now.
@MrsBrewer: I basically use the same recipe but use Ivory Soap.

SO much cheaper, all natural and works just as well as the name brands.

Baking soda and vinegar are good building blocks for cleaning supplies.

I am curious myself about the laundry detergent, does it work for HE front loading machines too?

I buy Mrs Jones Soapbox homemade laundry detergent (same ingredients as the recipes) in my HE, and I don't use fabric softener at all. I've been planning to try making my own, but I haven't gotten around to it. I have all the ingredients for it just sitting under my sink.

@MrsBrewer: my husband has a physical job as well and also works out/runs a ton. The recipe we both have works GREAT for getting out the sweat and grime. Usually if I'm washing work out clothes I'll sprinkle in about a tablespoon or two of baking soda. It helps to get the odor out!

@lovelife: I like the sound of that dishwasher detergent! Might try it...

@MrsBrewer: Nope, my husband is not a fan of fragrance so I leave it au naturale! I use bounce sheets in the dryer though, he LOVES the smell of bounce and refuses to let me use anything else!

@mrsbrewer: It works great! DH often works in dusty warehouses and moves around boxes and stuff, and it gets his clothes smelling clean. There are essential oils in the recipe, but everything comes out of the dryer smelling like nothing at all. Just clothes. I actually looked into the home made stuff because DH has eczema and everything irritated it. The home made stuff doesn't bother his skin at all.
