Definitely make batches ahead of time, or you’ll end up with powder EVERYWHERE.

Add-ins and ideas:

Have some Mexican hot chocolate available as well as “regular”.

Toppings: Peppermint sticks, flavored marshmallows (very easy to make, or you can buy online), cinnamon/nutmeg in shakers to shake on top. Real whipped cream.

Booze: vanilla extract (homemade is insanely better if you have time to make it, otherwise a good quality *real* not imitation works fine, and should be vodka based), peppermint schnapps, vanilla/flavored vodka, Bailey’s irish cream, frangelico.

I've seen a lot of crockpot hot chocolate recipes online, so that'd probably be easiest for making the hot chocolate.

I like adding coffee syrups (Torani brand) to hot chocolate. They have flavors like salted caramel, hazelnut, vanilla. If you have a World Market near you, they carry the most variety of flavor, but you can also find the more basic ones in the grocery store.

Do you know what Pocky is? It's basically a cookie stick dipped in chocolate. I think that would be yummy as a "stir stick"! Or what about crushed peppermint? I'm not a fan of mint but I know a lot of people are! Or some shaved chocolate peels?

Sometimes for a treat I mix nutella into hot chocolate - delicious! Or you could do little scoops of ice cream.

Love hot chocolate bars! Premaking it makes it a lot easier. We always have crushed up peppermint sticks, crushed up peppermint Andies, crushed up regular Andies. Sprinkles, marshmallows, whip cream, caramel chips, chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, white chocolate chips, cinnamon sticks, and peppermint sticks.
