I've pretty much been set on making my kids' play kitchen since I first saw the idea of re-purposing an old entertainment center. We were handed down one from a family member, and we're pretty handy, so why not.
The only 'problem' is that it's huge!! This top shelf is tall enough that no kid will ever be able to reach it while still interested in playing with a play kitchen. My 2 year old will *just* be able to reach the stove top and counter space.

What would you do - chop off the top shelf and be done with it, or turn it into some kind of storage? Maybe put doors on it to make it look like kitchen cabinets?

Also, the glass door is the sensible spot for the fridge - extend the fridge down to the shelf below it, or have a short fridge with a... dishwasher/oven/cabinet underneath it?

Also, if you have any favorite diy play kitchens, show pics!!
