DH and his brother started a company together.
I've never worked with family though.

DH and I work together. I like that we were able to carpool and he helped me learn my job quickly. I didn't like how often we talked about work at home and how we automatically went to the other one for help, even if somebody else at work would have been a better resource.

My mom is my dad's office manager and my inlaws own a gym together. My mom worked for my dad since we were young, probably 20 something years and she just retired a couple of days ago. Pros for them were that they could trust each other, my mom worked with all of the money and she obviously isn't going to take any of it. My mom could have time off when needed, it was very flexible for her.

My DH works with his big brother, and for about 7 years his brother was his boss. It worked well most of the time, I think, but I think DH is really coming into his own in his job now that his brother is the head of a different department! He misses seeing him every day though

I worked for my aunt and uncle at their restaurant when I was in my teens, and I work with the hubby at our shop on the weekends. I loved working for my aunt, my uncle - not so much. I enjoy working with the hubby since we don't get to spend much time together. Plus, we make a fabulous team (cheesy, I know), but we really do!

Well seeing as I work FOR the US NAVY and DH is in the NAVY, I tech work for him, but really only for a short time longer. He is about to "tranfer" commands and so I wont be working with him directly anymore.
The perk is getting to car pool if need be. Also its nice seeing for as technical and specific of a community we work for we understand each others work. A lot of what we do can not be discuseed outside of work for security reasons.
The cons is the political BS and other work "drama" can sometimes follow us home. Hard sometimes NOT to bring it home and discuss that stuff at home.

I currently work in my mom's ministry & used to also do bookkeeping work for her other business.
Pros - I have a boss that is understanding of my childcare status, possibly needing a day off or an advance, and I don't really have to worry about ever being fired. lol
Cons- I've gotten calls/texts VERY late about new tasks, she had quite a bit of trouble keeping the 2 jobs separate, expectations of family are ALWAYS more than another employee/partner.
I've considered going to get an "outside" job but there really isn't anything I could find that gave me the same ability to be here for my family AND provide a decent income so I stay and am glad I have the opportunity. =)

DH and I work in the same office but we don't directly work together. It's nice on the wallet because we only use one car 95% of the time (so we keep one nice, new-ish car; the other one is old and and gets used once every week or 2). We eat lunch together just about every day and visit periodically throughout the day; it's fun to see him and we don't get sick of each other because it's not constant.
FIL is my direct boss and I'm not a huge fan of that--I think he's harder on DH and me because we're family, and sometimes I'd like to be mad at my boss without also being mad at a family member...it can be hard to separate work and personal stuff. I have one more month here until I leave to be a SAHM...part of the reason I'm not coming back is because I don't want to work for FIL anymore (not that he's a horrible boss or anything, it's just not an ideal situation).

I work with my husband
Pros - we save on gas, we get to go on "dates" at lunch, I get to see/talk to him all day
Cons - I don't know of any so far.
