@T.H.O.U.: Thanks! That was on my Christmas list for the boys this year!

@lemondrop: @Boogs: yes! I had been eyeing them and had some other Legos on the list for this year but decided to try these out. DD (4) saw the picture and said oh yea we have those at school and they are fun!

Amazon has the 100 piece set for $80 today, 33% off...definitely an awesome deal!

@Pancakes: I saw those, but don't think they are actual MagnaTiles brand?

@Boogs: Oh shoot, you are right! They came up first when I searched for Magna Tiles and I didn't notice that they were something different.

@QBbride: @PinkElephant: we have the mag formers and you can't really build structures with them. My daughter doesn't play with them much so I'm hesitant to spend money on Magna Tiles. But I don't know if she would if she could build structures with them!

@regberadaisy: Can you elaborate on what you mean, that you can't build structures? Are the Magformers poor quality (ie, they don't "stick"), or the shapes aren't conducive to building specific structures like houses?
I just ordered a set but it's not too late to return if they're awful. I'd seen them at DD's school and thought they seemed fun. The open nature, IMO, made them a little easier to handle than solid tiles.

@PinkElephant: We don't have magnatiles so I can't compare. But I've seen how the Magna tiles get built into buildings and forms. Whereas the mag formers can go into a pyramid or cube but collapses very easily. I'm thinking perhaps the magnet on the mag formers are not as strong as the Magna tiles?

I've actually heard that the magnet seems stronger n magformers, so I'm not sure! @PinkElephant:

@QBbride: I'm thinking it's probably just really hard to compare, especially since there are so many brands/versions of each. I also thought the magnets were strong (hard to separate) on the MagFormers at school

Groupon and Amazon just had them on sale. I think Amazons sale is over but Groupon might still have them.

Target has them, they're 15% off and another 15% off with code cyber15 http://www.target.com/s?searchTerm=MAGNATILES&category=0|All|matchallpartial|all+categories&lnk=snav_sbox_MAGNATILES

@dagret: geez, target's site is a zoo today!
They're already sold out online, but you can order to pick-up from a store if you can get them into your cart.
grapefruit / 4278 posts
@BandDmommy: It took me about 15 minutes to get them in my cart, but they're mine now! 35% off, pretty good deal.

@kiddosc: i know, it's a mess! took me maybe 1.5 hrs to complete the purchase. LL bean is bad too.
Don't forget to add the promo code - it's not really in an intuitive spot!

Lakeshore Learning has magna-tiles. I used a coupon in the store this weekend and saved $30. They also have a coupon online CYBERSAVE for 30% off of one item (but shipping isn't free).
