Yes! My in-laws! Whenever they come over for dinner, it's always after LO goes down so I *always* leave the door unlocked when it's close to their arrival time so that they can walk right in. But every time, without fail, they STILL ring the doorbell!

That's one thing I dread when our son arrives. Our dogs go insane at the sound of the doorbell. I may have my husband unhook it for a bit.

The infant that I nanny now sleeps through the doorbell and the dog barking. I hope we are blessed with a good, heavy sleeper like that little man.

@Rubies: Ugh. so annoying! Tell DH to tell them not to ring the doorbell. I had a sticky on the door for a while "SLEEPING BABY. DO NOT RING DOORBELL." Then I decided I didn't want people knowing I had a baby so I took it off. People is crazy and might steal her.

Um, I am much less gracious. Our dogs bark when you knock on the door, but not at the bell. So when someone knocks I get LIVID if Charlie is asleep. Once it was a newspaper salesman, and I must have looked like a crazed banshee when I opened the door and screamed, "I"M NOT INTERESTED, LEAVE ME ALONE!" To my defense, I'd gotten maybe 4 hours of sleep the night before. I should get a Do Not Knock sign or something!

ughhhhhh yes.... i hate that! and i have two maltipoos that proceed to bark their heads off...

Yessssssssssssssssssssssssss! It happened a few times but it really annoyed me. I have a note over the doorbell as well saying to please knock! And it works!

Our mail man ran my doorbell the other day when LO was napping. I had to sign for something things, and of course the dog barked and LO started screaming. He was so nice and appologized for disturbing my baby, so I couldn't be mad at him. He was only doing his job.

It happens but luckily we've made sure to make a lot of noise so the LO doesn't wake up. In the first 10 minutes of putting him down is the crutial Part and usually the phone rings. Almost Everytime.

@mrbee: do you have a place where you can leave your number so people can call instead of buzzing if they need you?

We're only two weeks in, but we put a sign over the doorbell and on the door to tell people to call us instead of knocking or ringing the doorbell because our dogs bark very loud and wake her up. I don't know how we'll handle it when she's older.

I don't have anything to add about doorbells but I am afraid to call my brother after a certain time because I don't want to wake up his son. I do text him since his usually the ringtone for texts are shorter than ringtones for callers.
