Baby Grizz is only a week old but my ILs and DH's aunts love to tell me I'm spoiling him because I 'hold him too much.' Erhm... What?!

Yep! It was a different time for parenting for them so anything that isn't schedule/"training" implementing is likely to be seen as "spoiling".... sigh.

You can't spoil a newborn !!!! I hold my baby a lot and he is almost 5 months.

Ugh, so annoying! Thankfully no one's told me that. If they did, I might punch them! I wish DD wanted to be held *more*!

Not in so many words, but both my mother in law and my parents keep mentioning how in the end, I'll just have to "let him cry". And not just about sleep (although we co-sleep, so it's not an issue for us), but everything - if I'm holding him or whatever. He's 8 months now, but they've been saying it from the beginning.

Yep, my grandma told me this too. "I know it's so nice just to hold them, but sometimes you have to put them down or they'll be spoiled." AAAARGH. Yeah.

You can't spoil a newborn. I am still hearing how my baby is so spoiled. I hate it.
