I always thought I'd wash my baby in the kitchen sink, but then I moved abroad and our sink is tiny. No way anyone's getting a bath in there. Plus, that's where I wash my lettuce...after some of my baby's poops, I didn't want his butt remotely near my food.

My mom thought I was ridiculous to get a baby tub since she always washed us in the sink but the idea of it grosses me out. I don't want my naked baby where raw meat has been and I don't want my food where my baby's poopy bum has been. But we have two full bathrooms so it's easy enough for us to keep all the baby's stuff in the second bathroom.

We use the tub that we can put over the kitchen sink. I didn't feel right about washing her in just the sink, no matter if I cleaned it a million times. Plus, the infant tub is definitely more comfortable than sitting on the plug in the sink

I didn't want to get it because I thought it would be a waste to use it for only a few months, but we're going on 7.5 months and we're still using it every day (So that's over 200 times we've used it).

Well yes and no. His bathtub fits in our kitchen sink and that's where we bath him, but would I bath him solo without the tub, nope. I don't know about you, but I think it is way too much of a pain to sanitize it for each bath.

@photojane: I did for the first month with a sling in there. I think he was already getting a little big for that though, when someone gifted us the tub I had registered for, which we have been using ever since. We have a small space too and this doesn't take up a big footprint, plus it can double as a wastebasket down the road and can be a good bucket down the road when you need one too. and the regular blue one. Which was good when she was little, but she grew out of it fast and it took up a lot of space in our tiny house.

The sink was good for us from the time she was too big for the blue tub and too little for the regular bath tub.

our kitchen sink is so big and deep i wouldn't want to wash him in it. and i just think the sink is so filthy. we use the cheap first years one from target and he loves it! it just stays on our kitchen counter

@photojane: the lady i nanny for is really, really on top of organic/natural/clean etc. she washed her first in the sink. she just really cleaned it before hand, put a hand towel in the bottom, and then cleaned it again after. her baby actually never once pooped in the tub, but i'm sure she peed! her second baby she's been using the same blue plastic tub from target a PP posted. but I figured I'd give you at least one positive-sink story, lol

For a while we washed my nephew in the kitchen sink. It was during the transition period when he could sit up fairly well, but was having trouble sitting in the infant tub (the one my parents had was slanted and his little tooshee would slide around). We just quickly washed the sink out before and after. Once he started moving, we moved him into the tub with a slip mat.

DH and I are really tall, so I assume we will be washing more in the kitchen sink because its easier on us than bending over the bathtub.

Yes, I have totally given my children baths in the sink. Usually in the bathroom sink, though, not the kitchen sink. We have a baby bathtub, but I ditched it with DD when she was about 2 months old, and just got in the big tub with her every night, instead. We used it longer with DS (up until 4-ish months), but now I just get in the big tub with him at night. Once he's a steady sitter, I'll just put the kids into the tub together every night.

I liked the baby bathtub for the newborn stage, though. They're such little, soft blobs at that point, I felt like the sling in the baby bathtub was much more comfortable for them than the sink/big tub.

I do, because I really don't have another option at this point. I scrub the sink and then put a towel in it so she isn't sitting on the stainless steel (I used to use the blooming tub when she was smaller). I clean it again once she is finished.
At 1, she is really too big for a baby tub now, and our bathroom is long and very narrow, not giving any room to kneel next to it.

Absolutely. Once Baby X grew out of the PUJ tub, we moved him to the kitchen sink. And after he got too grabby with the faucet handles, we moved him to the big bathtub, or we take showers with him.

We are using the Bloomingbath in our sink. I'm a total clean freak and disinfect our sink everyday. Even if I didn't the Bloomingbath prevents baby from actually touching the sink.

I would have trouble washing Sawyer in the sink, when he sits upright he automatically stands up, which would be dangerous in the sink. He is fine when he is laying on the bath sling, but as soon as you sit him up those legs straighten (I tried a spa bath at a friends, and he wouldn't settle into it at all). We didn't buy our tub though, it was a hand-me down.

We used the same tub as @Mrsbells: posted & DD loved it! We just put it in the tub & washed her in there. The kitchen sink isn't always sanitary & I just find it easier to do it in the bathroom (less water/mess on my floors, easier transition to regular tub...)
