DD refuses to look at whoever is holding her. She wiggles so she can see around that person, and then smiles at someone else. She does it whether it's me holding her, or a complete stranger (to her). But, without fail, whenever MIL holds her and DD does this she gets all pouty and says it's because DD doesn't want to look at her. *eyeroll*

MIL also hates it when E cries when she holds her. She usually squirms around looking for me or stares at DH and cries pitifully.

My sister thinks R doesn't like her cause the last couple times, she has cried. I think she just gets her when she is a mood.
R cries every time my grandma holds her

My niece had pretty bad stranger anxiety and my MIL was really upset that my niece was more comfortable with her day care teachers than with her grandma.

So far Xander's only taken issue with my FIL and my mom. With FIL, Xander started whimpering whenever FIL even got CLOSE to him - he didn't even get a chance to hold him! But my FIL just thought it was funny, haha. And Xander was fine with my mom until just recently and she wasn't offended! She said stranger anxiety was normal at this age, so she was understanding! I think she was bummed she couldn't really hold him, but didn't take offense! We haven't seen anyone else in a few months, so I'm not sure how Xander will be the next time we see them!

My grandmother really gets her feelings hurt that DD doesn't want to be held. I try to explain that she doesn't want anyone to hold her (except Daddy), but that doesn't make it better.

My son is on some kind of schedule, I swear. One day he's all about my mom, the next day, he's all about my dad. It's comical.

My parents live 1400 miles away, so they don't get to see E often. He doesn't really like them to hold him, and will only tolerate it if they really work hard to distract him. My Mom knows it's not personal, but I know it makes her sad that he's not comfortable with her.

yeah it happens to all of them, and they take it so personally which is silly to me. She is just 17 months old, and it takes time for her to warm up to people she doesn't see regularly

N is 12 month olds and he is very attached to myself, DH, or my mother.
Over the weekend he wouldn't go to FIL unless I was right there. It made for a really sad first birthday party....

My MIL.
He JUST in the last few months got used to not crying when she was holding him.
Now he'll last anywhere from 5-10 minutes before he's reaching out for somone else to take him. FIL usually eggs it on too, "oh you want grandpa???"

DS hates when my MIL holds him. He fusses and stares at me til I save him. She takes it personally, but the way she holds him is so awkward that I think he's just not comfortable.

no lo yet, but my mom definitely gets sad that my 6 month old niece with stranger anxiety won't let her hold her. luckily, my 4 year old niece thinks my mom is the coolest person in the world, so it makes up for it a little!
