Did anyone not get a double stroller for 2 under 3?
At this point I'm on the fence if we actually need one. DS hates the stroller and ends up getting carried or worn most of the time. In fact we have only used our stroller a small handful of times in the past 2 years. I think once this baby arrives I will still have to do the same with him, so our current stroller would work for baby and I can always tandem wear. DS will be just over 2.5...do you think we need a double stroller?

I have a friend with two and she doesn't have a double stroller. Her daughter hadn't wanted the stroller for awhile so she didn't bother. She did tell me about a time that they went to the zoo all day and her older child was exhausted and wanted in the stroller, so she just baby wore her youngest.

DD has never been big on the stroller, so we weren't going to get one when we had our second. My in-laws ended up buying us one, and while it's nice, we have hardly used it. DD is now almost 3 and DS is 13 months, and I don't think we've used the strollers in probably 6 months. DD would rather walk, so I usually just put DS in the carrier, since that's more convenient. One time we do (did) use the stroller quite a bit was during walks to the park for a picnic lunch. It was nice to have all the basket space to carry our lunch!

@artbee: That is sort of the situation I'm afraid of with DS except for him he will not want the stroller but rather needs worn 
I was thinking maybe one of those stand on boards would be "cool" for him? But that still requires him to stand...
@autumnlove: I think I may ask around and then just see how it goes at first. I have a friend who has two 18 mo apart and she told me last night she just got a double because her older daughter was running around. She got a used inexpensive brand that she said drives like a bus!! 
If I'm getting a double I want it to be super smooth and effortless

@Honeybee: Thanks! I think that is how our situation would be! He likes to walk and by 2.5 he should be able to listen better (right now he sometimes wonders) so it might not even be an issue? I think I need to wait and see....

@anbanan15: We test drove some yesterday and I hated all the front/back models that I thought I would like! I really liked the City Mini double. I wasn't big on baby wearing with LO but I hope we do it more with Baby 2.

You can definitely do without one! I babywore my youngest a lot... My oldest was 3 years, 5 months at the time... So older than your first LO will be, but we did live in a walking city where we didn't have a car and we literally walked everywhere. I did cave in during the winter just so she wouldn't be exposed too long to the cold and or rain/snow during long walks (Some days we walked around 2 miles in terrible weather just to get to different appts, playdates, and run errands).
However, now I live in a city where we (almost) drive everywhere. I think if that's the case with you too, you can get by without one. 2-3 yo typically hate strollers at their age anyway.
There's always the boogie board option (we had the Lascal universal board). Yes they still have to stand, but if you play it up like it's for "big kids!", they love it!! It beats walking too when they are tired. On one particular long walk home, my DD actually rested her head on the handlebars of our snap-n-go and fell asleep, standing on the board!!! Haha
Another option: having them learn how to scooter or bike beside you while you push the baby. I've heard great things about the MiniKick scooter. And I'm a big fan of the Strider balance bike.

@anbanan15: He won't go in a stroller even if he's super tired? My LO hates the stroller at 21 months and will cry if I put her in before our walking, but by the end of the day she climbs in herself.
About the wondering, my LO is hard to keep in one place too but she does love to help push my nieces stroller so when they're around it's easy to keep her with me. Maybe he'll also like to help!

@autumnlove: I want a tandem but I haven't test drove any yet! I was at the farmers market the other week and there were so many side by sides and they barely fit the aisles.
@SAHM0811: We do live in an area were we have to drive for everything. Those are great options that I think a child around DS's age would think are neat. Come to think of it I see our neighbor using a scooter for their oldest. Thanks!

@anbanan15: Ours converts so that the older child can sit in a regular stroller seat, sit on a bench seat or stand on a kickboard. DD only used the regular seat once or twice. Most of the time she sat on the bench seat or stood on the kickboard or (most often) climbed off and on the stroller every 10 minutes. Usually (even now) I wear DS and my husband walks with DD or carries her, when she needs it. If I'm by myself, DD just has to walk, since I can't carry her and DS long distances. It usually works out just fine.

@artbee: no he won't He needed to be worn from birth due to reflux and needing to stay vertical to help the pain. I don't know if it's just habit now or if he really hates the stroller that much but he is still the same way. He does like to push the cart so I'm sure he would like to help with the stroller.

Yup tandems are harder to push in general. Side-by-sides are usually easier especially if there's a big weight difference between kids. For a narrow double (in case you cave in and get one), check out the Mountain Buggy Duet. That's what we have because our front door is narrow!

@anbanan15: Your son sounds just like my daughter. I'll never forget the day I decided to to take both kids on a walk to a bridge overlooking a stream. The bridge was about a mile away, and I thought for sure DD would be tired enough to finally sit nicely in the stroller for some period of time. Nope! She was exhausted but refused the stroller, so she ended up walking almost the whole two miles herself! Only in the last quarter mile did she let me pick her up and carry her on my shoulders (while pushing the stroller; it was awful, lol). I think that was one of the last times I used the stroller!

Does anyone have an opinion on the bugaboo donkey vs mountain buggy duet? I live in the city, won't have stairs to carry it up, don't mind the cost. The narrowness of the duet is intriguing to me although I admit to being a bugaboo brand whore

We have never gotten one and we had two under two! We always just baby wear one and push the other.

@Mrs. Jacks: thanks... I'm sure I will baby wear lots too. I am just intending to buy an adaptable double upfront bc we will prob have our kids fairly close together. I really want to minimize the number of strollers we have just for space saving

Our stroller doubles up, but we babywear a ton so I don't know if we'll even need the double option. I'm probably going to buy the second seat attachment anyhow (Britax B-agile) but between the ergo and ring sling I don't know how much use it'll get.

ohhh we are deciding right now too.... but we'll have 2 boys 15 months apart, and LO#1 is not really into being worn anymore. i'm thinking we will probably end up having to get a double, especially as we plan to have 2 more after that closeish together.
can't decide between the city mini double or select!

@ChitownRo: that's a good idea. I hate wasting money and my girls hate strollers, so we just sucked it up and use our first BOB (which we got for $75)... So yeah, we're frugal!

@Mrs. Jacks: Do you have an issue with either of your children not like the stroller since I know you mostly babywore from birth? DS refuses to use the stroller (we've been trying to use it more in order to prepare) and prefers to be carried/worn over walking himself. I don't know if a double would really be practical in that type of situation anyway....but I have a feeling the baby will be using the stroller and I will be wearing my 30+ lber...
If we decide on a double does anyone have any recommendations for one that worked well for a toddler that doesn't like the stroller in general? We currently have a City Mini, which I loves, but DS does not.

@anbanan15: both of our kids hate the stroller. They'll only sit in it when they can go run with daddy. Lala has gotten a little better as she got older because she saw us putting the baby in, and then she wanted to be the baby. So when we absolutely need to use the stroller, we start putting M in until Lala complains about it and then we switch them so I can baby wear the lighter one. Unfortunately now M weighs as much as Lala, so it doesn't matter which one I wear!
