We're looking to buy our first home in a small market. In our price range, there are 8 houses my husband will be looking at for us and 4 of them are split levels.

I've never lived in one, but feel like I've heard negative reactions before. My mom outlined some of her complaints (lugging groceries up stairs) which all sounded very minimal to me. We're moving from an apartment, so most any house is going to be ahhhmazing in comparison.

BUT we will definitely be reselling and probably moving again in under 5 years so I thought I'd crowd source.. do you rule out split levels in house hunting or do you not care?
