I usually don't but I am glued to the news story about the manhunt for the ex police officer in California.

I just realized this morning that I am woefully uninformed since having D 3 weeks ago - I had no idea that John Kerry was the new Sec of State!

I don't pay so much attention to salacious news, but I always pay attention to civics/politics.

It depends, but mostly, I've turned into one of those Americans who get their news from the Daily Show and the Colbert Report.
We usually do have CNN on in the morning when we are getting ready so we'll see major news stories there too. And the Daily Show has a lot of political stuff, though of course, not exactly unbiased

@autumnlove: I am really interested in that manhunt though. It's extra disconcerting because he looks so nice and friendly in the photo they keep showing. I know that doesn't mean anything, but it's sort of easier to imagine someone who looks kind of crazy snapping than this nice smiling young man.

Not really. I read at work when I'm bored but never on the weekends and we don't watch any news on TV.

I am political news junkie.
The manhunt is crazy. Two women in a truck matching the description of the excop's were shot by police officers. The cops are on edge and now two women have bullets in them.

No. Yesterday I had it on as background noise and one of the stoies infuriated me. People can be so f'ing stupid and selfish... sorry this story got me so worked up!!

I'm definitely not up to date. I hate seeing all the bad and horrible stuff the media likes to throw around all over the news. I'll happily live in ignorant bliss. I do pay attention around election time and I love hearing good news.

i try to watch the local news every night either at 6pm or 11pm

@Mrs. Jacks: cable news- mostly MSNBC, CNN and during live events I flip to Fox News for the commentary.

I always listen to morning edition when I'm getting ready. I'll pull up various news sites during the day. I rarely watch news on TV, unless there is something major happening (elections, natural disasters, etc).

Edited to add that for big live events CSPAN is my new go-to. I think someone here has a dad that works for CSPAN actually!

I read the local paper on my iPad and listen to CBC radio (Canadian NPR) in my car. We've recently started watching the news in the morning while we putz around the kitchen

I actually never watch the news but am tuning in tonight b/c my mom is supposed to be on speaking about the home for women she founded. I just saw about the ex-cop manhunt and it just made me glad that I don't ever watch the news. Nothing but sad scary stuff. =/
