Poll below about price of pool club membership.

DH and I bought our first home a few months ago. We're two blocks from a neighborhood pool and we were excited to get a membership. We were surprised to find out this weekend that memberships are $500/summer (May-Sept).

The pool is heated, there are chairs, and there is a baby pool. Baby pool is not heated but it's only about 6 inches deep. They have swim lessons for age 3+ so LO is too young. There is a teenage lifeguard.

All I could say about the staff was that they were awful. They were having an open house but the gate was locked. They wouldn't let us in until we pointed to the white board above their head that said "Open House Today!!" I'm guessing service is not a selling point.

I just thought it would be a nicer environment and priced closer to $300. Is this what most neighborhood/pool club pools are like? Are my expectations out of line for the price?
