Never ever. Can't remember the last time I bought a real DVD. I am going to buy the Frozen DVD when it comes out though! I've been meaning to build a collection of Disney movies. Right now, we only have Sleeping Beauty, Cars, and Up!

@mrbee: do you have Apple TV? would that stream through Roku? Still learning how to navigate all this streaming stuff...

@Mrs. High Heels: Not sure... but we sold our TV when we moved to this apartment, sniff sniff. So the kids have to watch stuff on the computer or the iPad now.

@mrbee: Oh wow, I didn't know you guys completely got rid of your TV - bold move! I realized I can probably purchase the streaming version of Frozen through Amazon Prime and stream that on the Roku.

@Mrs. High Heels: It's been great to be TV-free! My only regret is that now we almost never watch our shows together... how sad is that btw, that watching TV was our time together. But by the end of the day, we don't have a ton of energy!
Anyway it's been an adjustment to make sure we spend time together hanging out without the TV, but good overall!

@mrbee: I can definitely see that there are more upsides than downsides to no TV! Good for you guys!!

We sold all our dvds when we got an internet tv. We're 100 percent digital now. So if we want a movie that's not on netflix, we buy from amazon or itunes.

My sister and I were just talking about how DVDs were such a waste of money.... I use to use all my babysitting money buying them!

My sister got me Inception a few Christmas' ago and I never even opened it

Hubs and I used to have an EXTENSIVE movie selection. We sold/gave away a lot of them while preparing for D's arrival (needed the closet space for baby stuff). Now we only buy ones that we want to have full collections of. For example, I think the last DVD we bought was the first Hunger Games movie, and we're buying Catching Fire today. Otherwise, we watch On-Demand, get it from Redbox, and eventually I'm hoping we'll ditch cable and get a Roku and just start streaming from Netflix and/or Amazon Prime!

Like books, we only buy DVDs of our favourite movies. We don't like clutter.

I think the bigger change was Blockbuster going out of business. I used to buy tons of DVDs from their pre-watched section for pocket change!

We have a few shows on DVD and I have been collecting Disney DVDs for a few years now (MIL gets me one every Christmas), but we usually just watch Netflix.

We are an Amazon Prime family but we still buy DVD's all the time! If I have to pay to rent a movie from Amazon I'd much rather buy it used and have full access to it than be cut off after 24 hours. It's rare I can get through the whole thing on a week night since I fall asleep on the couch.

We still buy hard copies of our favorite movies especially because they might not be on Netflix or they won't stay there forever.

@mrbee: Frozen was released on iTunes last week
I don't even remember the last movie we bought on DVD it's been so long.

@Mrs. High Heels: yep, buy through amazon and stream through roku!
i was going to say we haven't bought a dvd in years, but that's not true: i bought DH legends of the guardians on blue-ray for christmas. ha. we used to buy dvds and blu rays, but now there isn't much that i want to see over and over. we'll probably invest in some disney blu rays so we can get a digital copy as well!
we started burning our dvds that we wanted to watch again to our computer and then donating them. we kept about half of the dvds we had for our favorites.

DH is a big movie watcher and has quite a collection. He only buys movies that are really good that he'll watch again.
We do have Netflix but we use that to watch new movies or catch up on tv shows.
