I usually have a box in the freezer.

No. But I like trader joe's blueberry frozen waffles, which are sort of the same thing.

wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

Yep! R wants to eat ASAP when she wakes up. We don't have time to make them from scratch.
GOLD / wonderful pomegranate / 28905 posts
Nope, it's so so easy to make your own waffles! I make a regular batch for breakfast then freeze the rest. I like make banana oat waffles a lot.

I usually make my own and freeze. I also buy Eggos when they are on sale.

We go through phases. We have a box in the freezer right now, but when they are gone we probably won't buy them again for a few months. I prefer French Toast!

we buy a gluten-free version from vans when we are really late and need breakfast on the go.

Yes, they are a weekend treat for us I do make my own occasionally but I like to pop them in when LO is "starving" in the morning and needs breakfast before daycare.

Yeah, one of the last things I remember before going under for my csection (it was an emergency) was the anesthesiologist asking what the last thing I ate was and hearing him chuckle when I responded "2 eggos." Kind of embarrassing.

I prefer to make big batches of sweet potato waffles on the weekend and freeze them, but have been known to grab a box when it's one of those weeks where we run out.

@locavore_mama: I think it's this one: http://www.bonappetit.com/recipe/sweet-potato-waffles
but i cut out the cloves and reduced the ginger b/c they were overpowering. I just refrigerated the extra egg yolks b/c my husband and L eat eggs for breakfast every morning anyway.

I used to always buy the Kashi kind---they are on the healthier side and have a good amount of fiber and actually taste good, too!
But they have soy flour or something, so now I can't eat them.
bananas / 9357 posts
Yep. All the time. It's one of the few things DS will eat for breakfast. We buy a big box at Costco so it's not the Eggo brand but same thing.
pomegranate / 3113 posts
No, but they're a total nostalgia food for me so now I might have to go pick some up.

Yup. The whole wheat ones. D loves them with peanut butter for breakfast on the weekends. We don't have a waffle maker.
cantaloupe / 6059 posts
No. We prefer to eat soaked grains for easier digestion so we just make a large batch on some weekends and freeze them for later. It's super easy! I also like that I can customize them that way with either blueberries, pecans, chocolate chips, etc. if I'm feeling like I need a treat..
GOLD / cantaloupe / 6581 posts
Yep, love frozen waffles. LO has half a whole wheat waffle every day for breakfast! HEB brand, but still...love me some eggos.
GOLD / wonderful pomegranate / 28905 posts
@dagret: how's the batter like? I only have a Belgian waffle maker and some batters don't cook as fast therefor end up burning in my thicker waffle maker!
grapefruit / 4235 posts
@locavore_mama: It's not as runny as standard waffle batter but the egg whites lighten them up. I'd say medium-thick? I have a regular waffle maker though.
If I'm freezing the waffles I usually don't worry if I undercook them slightly - i zap them in the microwave to thaw and then pop them in the toaster oven.
grapefruit / 4085 posts
I actually like the Stop & Shop cinnamon waffles! We also make pancakes so I make an extra batch and freeze for M.
pomegranate / 3872 posts
Nope but on the rare occasions I send dh out to pick something up at the grocery store he always comes back with eggos, too! He loves them. Only with fake syrup, too - never the real stuff haha.
