We buy by the bottle. We have some friends that buy by the case, and their per bottle cost is way, way lower. Thinking about switching, but haven't made it over the mental hurdle yet of buying a case of wine. I haven't done it yet!
If you drink wine, do you buy it by the bottle or by the case?

We never drink enough to justify a case.
But we will stock up when our big liquor store has double up for a buck!

We usually buy by the bottle though if it's on sale and it's a kind that I really like I'll buy a case.

My husband works in wine retail and gets a free case a month. We do not drink it that fast! When he buys for others or just for us, he also does a case for the volume discount.

For just us, we buy by the bottle. Whenever we have a big party, we usually buy a case of red and a case of white (I hate the idea of not having enough!) and then drink off of that for a looooong time post-party. (In other words, not having enough is obviously not ever an issue with two cases of wine. We don't have parties that are THAT big!!)

Both. Our liquor store gives a 10% discount off cases so it makes sense to buy that way; it not like the wine will go bad before we drink it and we have a walk-in pantry so we have the space to store it. Some wines that we don't drink often we buy by the bottle.

Both. We buy by the case when visiting wineries and get them shipped home. Or sometimes we buy online by the case. If we just swing by the local store, then it is by the bottle.

We don't have anywhere to properly store a case of wine. I would love to put them in the space under our stairs, but I don't know if that is the optimal temperature in the summer.

We usually buy by the bottle. But sometimes friends will ask if we want to go in on a case with them.

DH works for a wine, beer and liquor distributer and gets to pull a sample case a month. Lately he has been doing a mix of wine and specialty beers since we have an abundance of wine. We had to buy another wine rack!
When we do buy wine it's usually by the bottle since it's generally a nice bottle he wants to save.

usually by the bottle, except that we went to Napa/Sonoma a couple years ago and loved some of the wines we tasted so much we had a case shipped home, and also joined one winery's wine club, which was 4 bottles quarterly. It was amazing wine but we had to cancel it because we could never drink it fast enough!

By the case! That is the best way to try new wines and some stores offer a great case discount.
@mrbee - Union Square Wine has an amazing selection of very reasonably priced wine and they have several 25% off mixed case sales during the year. And they deliver to BK. You can call them and get on their mailing list. We love having wine on hand to open when people stop over.

We buy by the bottle mostly, but there is a chain here that has great "cheap" wine that we'll buy a case of every once in a while.

I don't drink wine but I ran into a coworker at the grocery buying 2 cases of wine and he was a touch embarrassed. It had never occurred to me to buy wine in bulk, but I guess it makes sense.
