I almost always tip 20+% because I used to be a server. And while a dollar or two isnt a big diff to me it can be to a server. Im waiting to place a togo order at pfchangs and I'm getong really annoyed at the wait/ bad service... contemplating if ill tip at all ... (only bcuz it is to go)

We always do 20% as well and if the service is really good we'll tip more. It takes a lot for us to not tip! I think the one time the service was SO bad we left a penny to make a point!

I absolutely change my tip based on service. That's the whole point of a tip! You aren't just automatically entitled to a tip even if you provide terrible service. I default to 20% and go up or down from there.

i do 20% but will definitely start cutting dollars if the service is horrible. still always pay at least 15% though. i don't tip on to gos.

I never tip to-go orders..oops! lol. but yeah..I do 20% and/or round, so if service was GREAT we round up..if it sucked, we round down.

We usually tip around 20%. If the service is really bad, we'll leave very little. The last time that happened, DH wrote a note on the bottom of the bill that the tip was low because the service was so bad.

I generally don't unless the service is horrendous. I will tip extra if the service is exceptional.

20% is my standard but will definitely decrease if service is bad...thats the whole point of the tip. I worked as a waitress in college and while I sympathize with servers I also think it's part of their job to be friendly.
DH almost always leaves 20% no matter what. He managed a restaurant for several years.
I never leave tips at Starbucks, etc.

I used to be a server too, and i always tip based on service. Mainly because I've been there and can (usually) tell the difference between things that are out of their control and poor service/don't care attitude!

I tip 20% too. I will leave less is the service was bad. That doesn't happen too often though.

My default is 20%. I lower if service is egregious. Recently I went to a prix fixe dinner and they included an 18% gratuity. I told our server she would have been better off if it wasn't included. I hate when they do that!

always tip 20%, 15% for bad service, 25-40% for great service.
