I just saw a pampers ad for cruisers + extra absorbency that said it keeps baby dry for up to 12 hours.
oops! I put O (6.5m) in swaddlers, and she goes over 12 hours without being changed. she wakes in the middle of the night (often) but will go back down. I only change her if there is poop. now I feel bad?!
do you change your baby overnight?

Not normally. Right now we are dealing with a nasty diaper rash, so when she wakes we do, but most of the time she goes from 9:15ish to 7.

Nope. Only if she poops. She definitely goes more than 12 hours in her diaper at night.

Not if I can help it! Unless it's poop or she's leaked through (which she has done in the 12hr diapers in fewer than 12 hrs) I keep the nighttime interactions to the absolute minimum.
And if she is happy and not leaking through the swaddlers overnight then don't feel bad. Some babies wet more than others and if swaddlers can handle your baby overnight, then that is great!

we were using Pamper's Baby Dry diapers all the time but just had to switch to Huggie's Overnight because DS kept leaking.

I change DS every time he woke up when he was a newborn but I think that was mostly b/c I had no idea what I was doing. Now he goes all night in one diaper, especially since he STTN.
Question: is it normal/appropriate to change a NB several times at night when they wake? Or should you limit interactions? I guess I'm not sure due to diaper absorbancy etc.

Lo wakes up 1x a night to nurse, so I change her diaper then since she is up anyways. Its usually pretty full at that changing, so I would feel bad making her go all night in it! If she was sttn then I def wouldn't.

@ktgee04: I changed LO at every night waking until she was a few months old. Part of it was because I wanted to make sure when she eventually went back to sleep she would sleep as long as possible without anything that could wake her up. The other part was wanting a fresh diaper on that brand new baby skin. Now? 12 hours on the regular

Nope. DH does, though, if he's the one that goes in. I'll only do it if he's woken up and I'm having a hard time getting him back to sleep. Or if I know for sure he's pooped.

At least once. Although she wakes 3-4 times a night, to eat or fuss.

Generally not, but I am at the moment since our current packet of disposables hasn't been leak-proof so if she wakes during the night then I do. Lo gets diaper rash cream put on every night after her bath in case she doesn't get changed during the night.

Nope, not anymore. I used to when he was a newborn and pooped a lot. Now it just wakes him up too much.

We check her diaper whenever she wakes in the night. She will fuss if she's wet. She only gets up once or twice though. If she sttn we wouldn't wake her to change her though.

No, unless he's really hassling me about going back down or I can smell the poop. He's still swaddled and I swaddling/re swaddling wakes him up too much and if we change him before feeding him he gets really loud and angry lol.

I used to but now anymore now that she is nearly 12 months old. For over night I used either cloth, over overnight diapers like cruisers or baby dry.

I didn't for a few months, but now I do, because I think his full diaper was waking him up at night...we also started using baby dry, which definitely prevents leaks overnight better than swaddlers.

@hilsy85: hmm maybe I'll pick up a small package of baby dry to try for overnights. she never leaks through to her clothes, but man if that thing doesn't weigh 10 lbs in the morning!

Only for poop. I just accidentally ordered baby drys instead of swaddlers and I miss the wetness indicatior but they don't leak as much.

After reading all these responses, I'm wondering if I shouldn't change it? I just figure if she wakes to eat, why not do it then too? Does it stimulate or wake up babies too much or something?

@hilsy85: I'm totally exhausted, so I may be confused, but if he wakes and you change him, doesn't he still wake up? lol! or maybe do you mean after that he'll sleep longer than he would if you didn't change him?

I usually skip the diaper change during just one of her MOTN feedings. I feel bad letting her go more than 7-8 hrs in a wet diaper. But she's still pretty "new"!

Only if its dirty. (Which it never is). I'd say he goes 12-14 hrs at night & it is SO full when I change it in the morning. We use baby dry too.

If she wakes up before midnight I change her diaper but if its after I don't.

LO sleeps through the night so I don't like to wake her up, if she does for some reason wake up (she will if she poops) then of course we change her. She goes about 12 hours in the diaper and is starting to feel wet so we need to find a thicker diaper.
