yup I straighten up--put things away, make sure surfaces are clear so she can clean. Otherwise, I find that things get put away and I don't know where they are!

i do a general de-cluttering of all of the surfaces, and wipe the sinks and tubs (DH makes a mess shaving.) Sometimes decluttering = throwing everything on the guest bed in our spare bedroom.

Most cleaning companies will not deal with clutter, so I have to de-clutter a little. Some of the contracts also say they don't do dirty dishes. So i have to do dishes. Basically, if your place is so messy they can't get to the surface, they don't clean it. So there is a little pre-cleaning involved. I don't consider cleaning to be tidying up, like prettylizy said.

I de-clutter and put stuff away. I also go ahead and throw the towels in the wash so they are out of the way. She does strip and re-make beds so I don't have to do that.

I do pre-clean, and I also put away things like bills and personal mail. Also, I put away favorite toys that, if misplaced, would cause a major meltdown!

if i don't declutter, she puts my stuff in a bag like my passive agressive college roommates.... so i try to clear off spaces or leave notes if i am still going through stuff (like when i came home from my baby shower!)
