I do a little blitz at naptime (just one nap) and also at bedtime. It makes me happy to see the floor clean even if only for a few hours
Do you?

yup, always, I also try to clean up before we leave the house, because coming home to a messy house makes me feel stressed immediately upon entry!

Usually, even though I know it'll be a wreck again by bedtime.

I used to, then I realized its a waste of my time. In two hours, she will be back up and the house will be a disaster. My time is better spent napping or eating ice cream
We do clean up each night though!

nope! i only clean up toys after they go to sleep. i'll pick up a few things here or there if it's in the way or if someone might trip on it, but nothing too thorough.

I do if it's really messy! I know it will just get messed up again right after nap time, but it makes me feel better.

no way. sometimes i don't even pick up at night! or before play dates! I read something online that said cleaning with a child is like brushing your teeth while eating oreos.

I used to, then I decided that nap time needed to be my rest time also. We do clean every night before bed, though.

@scg00387: ha that's exactly what it's like when I try to clean up while he's awake. An exercise in frustration for sure.

I usually just push everything around to make a walkable trail to the couch... It gets cleaned up just before lo's bedtime.

Yes, I usually make her clean up with me before nap time. I can handle small messes but not when she can barely walk to get to her toys. We also make her help clean up before bed time.
She's almost 23m and we've been having her help clean for a few months.

@hilsy85: I do the same and for the same reason! I'm always late now because our toddler likes to dump all the toys out just before walking out the door. I think I pick up the same toys 10 times a day

Nope. I move them to the sides of the family room, though, throughout the day. Does that count? Basically any trip hazard is taken care of, but I don't see the point of cleaning up, just to have to do it again in only a few hours when he plays again. My husband and/or I do a full clean-up of toys when J goes to bed.

I always tidy up before her nap. Now at 15 months, she's starting to help! I wanted it to be part of her routine.

Yes. I've found they're more interested in toys when everything is picked up. Something about recreating the mess, perhaps?? Plus, I can't stand walking through a mess of toys on the floor.

Yes! We clean together throughout the day bc I can't stand seeing chaos everywhere. We clean up before nap but I'll usually tidy up at bedtime myself while DH is doing bedtime stories. Our evenings are so short I like her to just be able to play with DH...and it never gets too messy at the end of the day

We usually clean up together before naptime. She used to love putting her books away 6 months ago, now not so much.
I like to relax in a clean room so i spend 5 minutes putting stuff away. Paints/crafts/water toys will usually be put away while we're finishing up the activity.

@hilsy85: I clean up before we leave too. I feel SO much better coming home to the house picked up.
Yepp, I clean up at naptime. I can't relax if it's a disaster!

Yes, I pick up toys all day long. He helps when I sing the clean up song. "Clean up, everybody clean up..."
