We're leaving tonight to go to the beach for a few days. I've spent the last few hours cleaning like crazy! I've done laundry, cleaned the kitchen, straightened up, made my bed, and now I'm going to fold some more clothes and finish packing. I hate coming home to a dirty house! Do you clean before going out of town?

Always. I like coming home to a clean house but I do it for really morbid reasons. In case we die on the trip and someone has to come into our home after we are gone to pack everything up. I don't want the place to be a disaster.

Always! laundry, empty out fridge, etc.

Kind of. I tidy up so that the place isn't a mess and I clear out our fridge and take out the trash.

Yes. But we have a dog who has major separation anxiety and likes to eat things if we leave them out. We always leave him with family, but like to clean our house in case they need to drop him off while we aren't there.

@highwire: I was just talking to my husband about this the other night! I like for my house to be relatively tidy at all times. If something ever happens to us I don't want people going through a nasty house.

I'm the same. My husband doesnt understand it. I try to remember to run the dishwasher and have no garbage in the kitchen garbage too. Boy do I have a yucky story about one hot vacay when we didnt do that....

Always, especially the kitchen--dishes have to at least be in a running dishwasher, sink and counters cleaned, floor swept and mopped. All the laundry needs to be done and put away, bed made, fridge emptied, cat boxes cleaned, trash and recycling taken out--and everything else straightened up and put away.
I LOVE coming home to a clean house after a trip, especially a long one. And also, like Highwire, because if something happens I want the place to be clean if something happens to us and people need to come in and pack it up.

Coming home to a clean house is the best! I always leave fresh sheets on the bed too..ahh heaven!
