Here's one for the late night crowd.. 
I was on meet up and found a group that was for "young moms" and after clicking on it, the membership requirements stated that you had to be between the ages of 23-29 to join. It made me sad that I am no longer considered a "young mom" even though I feel like one!
Do you consider yourself to be a "young mom" (or dad)?
(to clarify, do you consider yourself to be one right now... not when your LO was born)

I'm 23 and would say you're a young mum as long as you feel like a young mum!!!
ETA: I always make sure I wear my wedding rings when I leave the house with LO because if I don't the judgey looks I get are horrific. It's super lame.

Yes, I was 20 when DS was born and will be 22 in a few weeks. I love being a young mom but I hate how many people view young mothers. There are so many harsh assumptions that are made. It's terrible!

I was 24 when C was born and yes, I am a young mom. We weren't planning to start until our late 20s (27-28).

Nope, I'm turning 33 this year and only have my 1st. I actually wish I didn't wait that long but such is life. I just hope I have energy at 50/60 to travel with my kids... If we're cool like that.

I will be 32 when my first is born and I feel really old! I never wanted to be an old mum - it just took me that long to find the right guy and settle down!

No, I'm 34 (35 in May) and I feel old! A client today asked if J was my first baby. When I said yes, she said, "I should have known, you are young." My response was,"Not really, but thanks!"

At 30 I don't feel like I'll be young, though DH is 28 and I think of him as a young Dad.

Wait, they excluded those under 23?! I'm 22. I'm having my first baby any day now.
I do consider myself a young mom, but not extremely young. I've been married for two years and I think this is ideal timing for our family.

I felt young prior to DD, but after a year of not getting a full night's rest, I feel much older than my age

@crunch: Me, too! I wish I had had my LO (and a few more) earlier, but I didn't exactly have the opportunity then, so I'm more in the "geriatric mom" group! But I had a lot of fantastic 'life' experiences (and some not-so-great ones) when I was in my 20s, so hopefully those will help me be a better mom.

I don't consider 27 to be too particularly young in the midwest, but neither too old. It's pretty average, I think! But everyone likes to tell me, "oh you're so young!" so I guess it is. DH turns 30 next month and also thinks he's average

I'm 28 and due in a few weeks, I don't consider that young, but it's not old either, I'd say I'm average!!

No. I just turned 30 over the weekend. But I wouldn't have felt young or wanted to join when I had lo at 28 or when she was a baby at 29. Then what happens when I turned 30...... I'm kicked out?

We had planned on trying when we were around 27 but I had my LO at 24. I definitely think I'm a young mom.

Dang, that young moms group is way off course.
From what i've gathered off here/other places..20- 25 is a "young mom", 26-30 is an "average aged mom" and 35+ is an "old" mom.
Now, in my town our Young Moms group starts at 18 just to give some perspective. I'll be 20, so i'll be a young mom, and I wouldn't' have it any other way, it's what works for our family right now.

Around here (Boston area), it's probably younger than average but not like Teen Mom. Anything under 25 would probably be considered pretty young, though! At 35 having my first, most of my friends started having kids a couple of years ago but I'm by no means 'old' yet (well.. I feel that way, but I'm talking averages). I hear funny stories of new moms in their 40s walking around Cambridge with a full head of grey hair and that being the norm.

I'll be a few weeks shy of 26 (DH will be 30) when we have our first. Young to some, average-older to others...who knows?!

Yep, I'll be 26 when we have LO and I feel pretty young! That being said, my mom was 33 when she had me and 39 when she had my sisters, and I definitely never thought of her or my dad as 'old' parents! You are only as old as you act/feel!!

In the middle. I was 27 when I had DH. Around here that's pretty old. We'd love to have more and that will make us "older" parents.

I will be 28 when LO is here, and I feel like that's a pretty average age. I feel young in a lot of ways (mainly because I'm the first out of my friends to have a baby), but my age is in the middle, I guess. I feel young though!

I'm 32 and having my first. For my area and circle I feel pretty much right about average, maybe a shade older than average. Among our circle if friends people only started having babies on purpose in te last year or so. I don't feel old or young. (I'm in a big city in the northeast though, which I think has an older first time mon population than the rest of the US. )

@hilsy85: That is so true! I live in NYC, too. We're not TTC yet, but we're planning on starting in June 2014. I'll turn 27 in August 2014 so if we conceive in the first few months of TTC I'll be 27 when we have our first child. I feel like that's pretty young for this area. Honestly, part of me feels like I'm ready to TTC a bit sooner than that, but it's just so not normal for my circle of friends/family that I just feel weird about it...

@hilsy85: It is interesting how it's so different by location. It doesn't help that my mom was 40 when she had me, so part of me worries she'll think I'm too young to get pregnant even at 26 or 27! Oh well, I guess you can't please everyone

I just turned 32 and had my first early this year....as did just about all of my friends. In our prenatal class of 10 moms I was the youngest. Many of my high school friends are on their third or fourth now. So sometimes I feel old, sometimes young, and sometimes just right.

I'm 29 turning 30 in may (trying to hold on to my 20s) I think I'm a young mom because I'm pretty much the first one out of all my friends to have kids. So everything is learning through trial and error.
