Yea thats a pretty daunting list.
Potty stuff isn't too bad, we did a Bjorn potty which worked well and then a ring for the big potty.
Car seats are hard and our town never has them in stock for you to try them in your car!

We have to buy a convertible seat very soon. Not looking forward to it... they're so expensive! And I'm afraid of buying one that I'll end up hating.

Yes... anything that costs me more than $50 makes me cringe.

Yes! I mean I love gear shopping, but I got pretty spoiled with NBD prices so its hard for me to go to BBB or Babies R us and pay close to full price for anything. So I have been dragging my feet hoping NBD will post more baby gear!

Yes and I feel like I need to research and get the best for the price we are prepared to pay. I need to get a high chair in the not too distant future!

I am a minimalist so I try to avoid buying anything! I do need a convertible seat though. ..

Depends, but for big things like high chair, car seat.... things that you only need one of and will have to live with for a long time... yeah. Even just picking it out for someone to buy it as a gift is daunting, much less paying for it myself!

@T.H.O.U.: I still don't know what I want to do...should I move Baby 2 into LO's Britax seats and buy new seats for the toddler? Or new seats for baby? I need to think about it!

yes. have to do a stroller assessment with an umbrella stroller we need for ds, with thoughts of planning for lo#2 in the future... !

@autumnlove: That is probably what we are going to do. I worry about shell height for her, so I may look at a radian or something similar for her when she's closer to 4 years old (because I don't want her to go straight to a belt/booster)

Buying more than one car seat is the worst!! B's first convertible didn't last (we should have researched more when he was getting too long for his infant seat), so we had to buy another for him and a new infant seat for E. She needed a convertible before he needed to switch to a booster so I bought another convertible, then 8 months later a booster.
That's 6 car seats!! Plus, we'll have to buy a new infant seat for #3 pretty soon too to make the car seats fit correctly in my car (3 across the middle row). That makes 7

Yes! I get so overwhelmed researching everything and trying to compare based on reviews and costs. I thought I did well on the big things with LO but when I see someone's gear, that I hadn't heard of and like better, I get frustrated.
FWIW, I wasn't on HB a lot before R was born, I totally wish I had simply used the boards for research!
@HLK208: 7?! You could probably get a reviewing job for the car seat lady

@HLK208: We want a 3rd LO and we also have a car that we will replace next year, etc. I hate car seats

I hate researching gear. We got our convertible car seat from my parents, so we didn't have to research that one. The gear guides are helpful for future purchases. I'm hoping that all of our current gear can work with a second LO.
I registered and got a potty seat, so that will come in handy later. I actually bought gear I saw being used at my parents' house with my niece and nephews ahead of LO's birth. Having some of that on hand now helps.

It is ok, but I don't research very much. As long as something doesn't have one star or a really bad rating, I just buy it.

Ugh. We need to buy a new carseat, and I am not looking forward to it. Something that expensive should be fun.
We gotalmost all of our baby gear from some friends who are - surprise! - having a third LO. So we have to give it all back. I am thrilled for them, but I am annoyed that I now have to start researching and shopping for new stuff.

Yes. We have a tiny apartment, so every thing I buy for LO has to be amazing/useful/perfect enough to justify giving up space, and likely getting rid of something else we still really like/use, so it's a lot of pressure in a weird way!

i had bad dreams all night about not being able to find the perfect car seat. i was thinking about going straight for a convertible, but my mom thinks the infant seat will be useful for grocery runs, church, etc. i'll be a sahm & DH works from home so i hate to think about spending tons on a seat that we won't use all the time.

yea.. ugh… we recently had to buy the radian because DD is growing out of her britax. this is going to be her THIRD carseat.

Augh, gonna have to tackle trying to fit "3 in a row" too. I'd love a bigger car, but it's not in the cards. I'm excited to buy some new infant stuff though. So much has come out since just 2 years ago!

@autumnlove: that is what we did. Since DD was 3 when DS needed to move into the convertible we bought a carseat/booster for DD. By the time DS is ready for the highback booster DD should be ready for the low booster. Since we have two cars and share drop off/pickup it can get pricey.

@autumnlove: lol yeah... it's new to us. Never thought I would get sick of pink, purple, etc... but I sort of am!
