Do you "eat clean"?

@mrbee: might also be your scale! I had one that I noticed after a few years told me my weight was majorly fluctuating. It happened even 5 minutes apart - that's when I decided to get a new scale and my weight is much more stable now. Although fluctuation by a few pounds on different days is also completely normal, so many things factor into your weight on a given day.

I did up until DD was 2... And then we had so many "easy" (aka processed) foods in the house for DD1 and they kind of stuck... That along w/ getting pregnant again and having to stuff my face to keep the nausea away really got us into bad habits. I'm trying to get back into it though! (so much harder this time)

I have since January & love it! At this point I eat 100% clean at least 4 days a week & at least 80% on the other days. I started because we planned on doing BLW & I never ever want food in the house that I would rather DD not eat. Then I got addicted to how I felt & started getting more committed to it. I'm starting the Whole30 on Sunday...I'm nervous & excited. Hopefully I can kick this sugar habit!!!

@mrbee: some bread has hidden dairy!

It's worth getting checked out, at least it would be to me, I love cheese!

I don't really understand what eating "clean" is. I mean, there's no dirt on my food usually...?

But in all seriousness, we eat healthy foods for the most part, and we eat "unhealthy" foods in moderation. We eat 98% of our meals at home, and they consist of lean protein, vegetables/fruits, and whole grains. When we do go out, we don't eat fried or fast foods. But we (OK I) love my sweets and eat something chocolate every day, and I have a particular fondness for frozen yogurt. I won't say no to a (gluten free) pastry or bread.

Honestly, I feel like I get all the nutrients I need from my food, and don't go overboard on the junk, so I'm doing fine.

@grizz: See this is what I don't understand. How is Greek yogurt - especially if it's plain and organic - considered "not clean"?

@IRunForFun: I buy the kind with the fruit in it I eat plain at home when I can doctor it, but on the go I need the flavored kind!

We mostly try to eat clean, but it's easy to fall into bad habits on the weekend (TJ Orange Chicken anyone) but I strive to feed my family clean during the week.

I eat on clean plates.... Does that count?

@grizz: Hahaha, I'd still consider the organic Greek yogurt with fruit to be a lottttt healthier than most other snack choices!

@Mrs. Sunshine: I've found a few really easy recipes with quick prep that we eat... every week. I've also been making a salad, like broccoli salad or greek salad or tomato salad on sunday or monday, and we eat that as a side for a couple meals.

@Mrs. Sunshine: Oh wow! Good luck on whole 30. It appeals to me, for sure, but I'm chicken! I have managed to cut a lot of sugar out of our lives.

I was doing no carbs, which really took a ton of processed food out of our life, and sugar. But it also took out all fruit, which can be a bummer. So now I'm just trying to eat clean. But I'm off for Indian for lunch, so, maybe tomorrow!
