I voted Other b/c I gave it up back in November due to LO's MSPI but I am looking forward to bringing it back.

I went totally vegan in December. I thought I would miss cheese, but I don't. My friend was telling me that there is something in dairy, especially cheese that actually makes it addicting, and once you get it out of your system, it's smooth sailing.
Plus there are enough substitutes, and recipes for making your own non dairy cheese, and other products. I don't feel like I'm missing out at all. I'm surprised at how much there is available, even here.

I LOVE love love dairy. I was born in Wisconsin so I blame it on that lol lo had green poops for awhile and I was really worried that it might be dairy intolerance but thankfully it isn't. In vegetarian so I rely on dairy (especially Greek yogurt) for protein, etc, and my diet would just be so sad without it!

@bushelandapeck: Have you tried So Delicious ice creams? They look like they have some pretty good flavors.

I have no desire to cut out any food group. Granted, I am not dealing with any intolerances, either in myself or child, so I am not coming at it from an aspect of need.

Yes, but not a lot. Greek yogurt, some cheese, a little butter, and that's about it! Oh wait, and ice cream.

i'm not at the moment because of whole30. but i do love cheese and butter. i do have some intolerance to dairy though... it definitely causes a rumble in the bronx when i have it after not eating it for a while.

I do right now, but I don't have too much of a problem giving it up. Especially b/c I know if I haven't had it for a while I'm going to have stomach problems when I do!

Totally! Hello ice cream, whipped cream, milk, and cheese! Yum!!

I love it. Probably my favourite food group. How long has it been since you started eating it again? Your gut is a living thing and might need time to adjust to dealing with different foods again. Cheese causes less grief because it's been partially broken down by bacteria before you eat it.

I'm lactose intolerant so I have to be very careful with dairy. I don't have any milk, cream, yogurt, ice cream, etc. My stomach and skin just can't handle it. I do eat cheese though, I LOVE cheese! I try to stick to ones that are either lactose free or low in lactose.

I had to cut it out for 7 months while nursing because my son had an allergy. I eat it now but much less than I used to. I felt lots better when I was off dairy.

Yes!!!! With my first son I gave up dairy for a few months because we thought he may have an allergy and I thought I was going to die! I was so miserable! I love ice cream way too much to ever do that again.

Yes, I don't like drinking milk by itself, but I love cheese, milk in cereal, ice cream, butter, etc

It makes me bloat When I eat it, I'm REALLY picky about it being good quality so that it's worth it! I love cheese and Greek yogurt.

I'm pretty sure cheese is it's own food group. It's my favourite one. NOMNOMNOM.

Oh yes. Mmmm cheese, butter, ice cream, frozen yogurt, yogurt...I've never had to give it up before, so I don't know how I'd feel physically without it.

So, I'm lactose intolerant...but ice cream is worth the...discomfort, and yogurt doesn't give me a reaction.

@.twist.: Same here. Cheese is one of my food groups. I've never even considered cutting it out of my diet. In general, I like most dairy and am almost as bad as Paula deen when it comes to butter.

Currently I am going dairy and gluten free to see if this will help DD's eczema. I think dairy free is harder than no gluten. I miss it so much but am figuring out subs that are pretty decent like almond milk. But can't wait to have it again! I'll be making myself a delicious grilled cheese sandwich!!

@Grace: I started reintroducing it about three weeks ago, but only in small icrements. So for example I had no dairy for 5 months, but then went with friends and had some pizza. I was gassy and bloated for a Few days. Then went a week without it, then tried dairy again (Ice cream). Same thing. Should I just go all out instead of randomly trying it?

@Mrs Spoon: it was the opposite for me! Dairy was harder to give up than wheat.
persimmon / 1313 posts
Yes but just cheese. I'm sure I can cut it out eventually. I haven't had cow's milk in years.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: I think you'd have to do some research to find out what the best way to do it would be. My guess would be to do something in between once every few weeks and all the time. I would also imagine that there are some dairy products that are easier to start with. But I'm not a doctor/dietitian/nutritionist/whatever so I really don't know. These are only semi-educated guesses.

I've pretty much given up all dairy, but occasionally I eat cheese because that's the hardest for me to go without!! I was having some, ahem, digestion issues (tmi constipation) so I stopped eating dairy and I feel a lot better. A side effect is that my skin is a lot clearer now!
