We always try and eat dinner together so that it's at least a few minutes of time we can all sit and talk. This only happens 5 out of the 7 days due to DH's work schedule, but I'd say that's pretty good considering what busy lives we live.

that's a good percentage! we only really get to on the weekends if DH isn't working overtime. He gets home after we eat.

yep. Even now M sits with us and gets fed purees while we all eat dinner.

Same as you! Now that we have a dining table it's so much easier too!

We try to! Occasionally one of us isn't home, but one of us always sits down with lo. I am really thankful that this works with our schedule because it was really important to me.

Yup always. I don't mind LO's bedtime being a bit later so we can all eat together.
squash / 13764 posts
Yes, now that LO goes to bed later (around 8) we all eat dinner together around 6:30.

Only on the weekends. DH is never home during the week. I eat with the kids, though.

Yes. It's really important to me because I have find memories of family meals as a child.

Yes we try to every night. When DH is working I still try to have the three of us eat together.
cantaloupe / 6630 posts
Yes, at least me and A. DH sometimes finishes late but if he's home he joins in.
honeydew / 7586 posts
Yep! We try to eat dinner as a family every night. We eat lunch as a family most days, too.

Only on the weekends, but D's not here for dinner with us during the week. I sit and steal bites of E's dinner, and then either eat by myself or with D later, depending on when he gets home.
pomegranate / 3863 posts
Yup, every night! We are lucky to have schedules that allow that.
pear / 1812 posts
Yes, when we are all home, which is about 3-4 days a week due to my work schedule.

I wish. Right now DH is gone from 5:30am to 10:30 at night- all this month. (New job and school for career change.) I would like to someday.

Yes! Sometimes DH works overtime but LO &I always eat every meal & sometimes even snacks together.
nectarine / 2504 posts
No, DH doesn't get home till 8 on most nights so it's just me and DS at dinner. We eat together on the weekends.
honeydew / 7917 posts
We eat dinner together most nights. Sometimes the kids get started first on nights DH comes home a little late.

Growing up my family did so I def think it's important to eat dinner as a family!
pomegranate / 3272 posts
Nope. We can't swing it yet with our work schedules. DS needs to eat right when we get home. We wait until he goes to bed.
wonderful pear / 26210 posts
5 nights a week. But dinner isn't the only meal that counts! On weekends, we eat all of our meals as a family!
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
Yes, it's important for us to eat together so we at around 6 together at the table. When I was dealing with MS, LO would get so mad if I was laying on the couch when her and DH were eating (food smells made me sick) she would tell me to come sit down, it's dinner, sit down mommy. It broke my heart to tell her mommy couldn't!

We try, but DH works a lot of evenings so it's not always possible and sometimes even if we are all home, L eats so much earlier than us that he's usually fed before our dinner is made. I'm trying to change that and push his dinner back a bit all the time.
persimmon / 1404 posts
Yup we do. When my husband works a late night (usually once a week), I will just have a snack to tide me over until he comes home and then we will eat dinner together.
grapefruit / 4213 posts
Depends on DH's schedule. Usually I feed LO and have a snack while I cook dinner, then give her a snack while I eat with DH when he gets home.
pear / 1672 posts
No. DH often gets home between 7 and 8pm, so that's too late for LO and she is often in bed between 7 and 7:30. I want to when she gets older. It's hard for me because I don't get home until 5:30. I find it hard to cook with LO around. I figure she's only 17 months, and we have years of family dinners ahead of us.

Yes! We try to every night. My LO is still exclusively breastfed (only 4 mos old) but we've been putting her in her high chair so that she's at the same level as us through the meal - she enjoys it and my DH and I can finally eat together again We hope this will also transition her into a routine when she starts eating solids.
grapefruit / 4997 posts
On the weekends always but during the week, DD eats first. She takes forever to finish so she is still eating sometimes by the time DH gets home. We are usually at the dinner table together.
