My parents would be ok with it but I'm not sure how my dog will do on a 7 hour drive!

We bring our two dogs when we go up north to visit DH's extended family, it's only a 1.5 hour drive though!

We bring our dog when we fly to the West Coast to my parents' house.

We bring our bulldog when we go visit Dhs parents about a 5hr drive away. He does great, just sleeps the whole time...But he's the world's biggest couch potato!

Yep, all the time! My parents are about a 10-hour drive away - we make the trip two or three times a year. Our dog, a miniature dachshund, does fine - we just let her out and give her a minute to take care of business when we stop for us to do our own business!

We take mine to my parents house all the time, but they only live 2 hours away.
I've done multiple trips with dogs (+17 hrs) and they've done fine. We just had to stop every three hours or so for potty breaks.

We take our two dogs 6+ hours to my parents. One dog sleeps the whole time, the other is kind of nervous, but just lays her head between us on the center console and will sometimes fall asleep. When let them out when we stop for gas.

We don't ever take our cats because they don't handle the car well. We always take the dog when we go to my parents' house, and usually when we go to my FIL's house. We don't when we go to my MIL's house because it's a plane ride.

Once to a long weekend stay 3 hours away. We put him in his crate and secured it in the backseat and he slept the whole way!

Yep, but only to places that are within a few hours. I think the longest trip has been 3 hours? My parents regularly drive from IL to TX with one or two of their dogs, though!

Our families are no more than an hour drive so we usually bring our dog along.

Yep! We aren't allowed to visit my in-laws without the pups, lol. That's about a 4 hr drive that we do multiple times a year. My parents were more like an 11 hr drive-- we did that twice in 5 years

Yup always! My parents live 4.5 hours away so our dog and cat come with us. We always get laughs at drive thrus when a cat pops up in the back window.
Our dog comes with us when we drive to my in-laws. They live about 16 hours away from us. We break the drive into 2 days and stay at a dog friendly hotel. Sometimes that can be a pain because he's about 55 lbs but we've never had a problem.
Both our animals have traveled since they were 6 months old and we usually do a trip every 6-8 weeks so they are both great travelers!

I used to when I was living alone and had my cats, but we don't with our dogs.

Now that I think about it, we often bring our dog to my in-laws', which is an hour's drive away.
@debbiei8: We started her when she was really young too!

We do, but only to my ILs and my parents' -- they're 2 hours and 30 mins away, respectively.

We take them to MILs all the time. It's a 4.5 hour drive. They sleep the entire time.
