Feel dumb... just burned my thumb when taking some chicken out of the oven.
Do you ever burn yourself when you use your oven? How do you treat a burn?

yes - I have many scars on my forearm from grabbing something at the back of the oven and not watching what I'm doing, and going SSSSSSS right against the other racks sitting in there. Cold water, polysporin/ozonol and that's it.

Ouch!
I made the mistake of not fully opening the oven door one time when I was taking something out. I grazed the top of my hand on the door, and it hurt!
Don't feel dumb. I think everyone's done it at some point!

Yes. And I can't even blame alcohol. Sometimes I seem to be convinced I'm wearing invisible oven mitts. For some strange reason, they don't protect skin as well as the visible ones do. The most common for me is when I'm doing cutlets and take them out of the oven to finish off a pan sauce. I often forget the saute pan was just in the oven and touch it to move it around over the heat and get burned. I've never had a bad burn-- knock on wood. Usually I just put some calendula ointment on it to treat.

I grabbed something with a wet oven mitt one time. Within about 2 seconds I was crying into the kitchen sink with a pan of chicken on the floor.
Wetness does not go well with 400 degree metal.

Like everytime. Somehow when I reach into the oven I always burn my forearm on the top of the inner oven. Maybe im too tall or something?

I have a scar on the back of my hand from lifting raising my hand too high when lifting a pan out of the oven. I get close every time!

Try honey on it. Someone told me that once and it does seem to help.

Just burned myself a few weeks ago. I was doing everything to avoid burning myself, and then I go ahead and burn the area between my knuckles. Scar there now. I put it under cold water and then out some neosporin...

I don't usually burn myself in the oven, but I get splashed with hot oil or leave the spoon in a pot and get burned on the handle. I run it under cold water for awhile, and then put aloe on it. Honey works too.
