I've been burned by purchasing early and then he doesn't wear that size and it ends up being a waste of money.

Only certain items I can swing early/late if need be. I bought a fleece 2T coat at Old Navy for super cheap, knowing she could wear it fall or spring depending on her growth.

I tried to at the end of last summer and LO grew so fast that those cute shorts and swimsuit would fit her now. Oops. We have boxes of clothes in future sizes though, hand-me-downs from friends and family, so I am just going to avoid clothes shopping for a while.

DD has always been true to size, so I do whenever I find awesome deals. I don't think she's ever worn anything from Baby Gap or Janie & Jack that wasn't bought on sale ahead!

Never- he's always been big so I have no clue what size he'll be in next year. I've bought stuff a few months early and he's barely fit in it by the time he can wear it.
