I am on the Home Depot website I am chatting with an online customer service rep who is helping me narrow down washer and dryer options. 
I rarely chat with customer service reps but I am so clueless about appliances!

I was having trouble ordering an Anywhere Chair from PBK on Black Friday and the rep on the phone was asking me about DS and talking about babies, she was really sweet.

I think the only site I've done it on has been Amazon. Go for it, it's what they get paid to do!

I do when the option is available. Going through an automated telephone system can be such a PIA and heck who knows how many times you have to re-tell your story!

I do the chat option a lot because I'm too lazy to talk on the phone, and I can do something else while I'm waiting for their reply!

I actually do this often with my bank!! It is so helpful! Usually its when I have questions about fees on my account and they are often able to refund them online! Its great too because I can do it from my desk at work while still answering calls and emails!

I did it on the AT&T site once and the rep was very helpful! I prefer phone, though--I think I did that one online because I was at work and being sneaky.

Yes I do with the my phone company, with verizon, fisherprice and even the softtiles website. this way I can multi-task while working
