I rarely feel rested these days... I just can't catch up with my sleep needs! Am I really going to be tired for the next 18 years?

Rest? What's that? I remember sleeping in til noon when I was 9 years old. So you should be able to get good sleep in about 11 years?

I haven't felt rested in a year. Sometimes I tell my husband I'd love to sleep for an entire day. He laughs at me.

Nope, not since my lo came! I'm pretty sure I'll never feel rested again. Once my lo goes to college ... I'll just be up all night worrying about her!

I feel like I get a good amount of rest but I am still tired. Parenting is just THAT tiring I guess.

I've always been tired.... I was never one to have energy, even in high school.

We dream of sleep! On the w/e's, DH usually takes LO out to play so I can sleep-in. Call me crazy, my body is now used to sleeping 4-5hrs and I can't sleep!

I figure it will be at least 10+ years before I can even think of feeling rested again.

@lovelife: This is off topic, but have you ever had your thyroid checked? I always crashed in the middle of the day, even in high school, and just recently found out I am slightly hypo-thyroidic. Taking just a bit of thyroid medicine has helped me a LOT!
I am resigned to never feeling rested again. Even though LO isn't here yet, she makes me get up about 5 times a night to use the bathroom, so those old days of uninterrupted sleep are gone and once she's here, I don't anticipate they'll be back for many years!

great thread. glad to hear I'm not the only one that thinks being a parent and being a zombie seems to have a lot in common.

@mynoahbear: I didn't realize your baby was born, congrats!
I don't know the last time I felt rested, maybe middle school when I would sleep in until 11am on weekends? All I know is that once I started working at 14 I was always tired between balancing that and school. In college it got even worse since I really have to work to pay for school and school got more demanding. Then, I threw wedding planning into that mix. After graduation, then the wedding, there was home remodeling. So, more sleep loss. Now, a baby. All I know is I hope retirement brings back that rested feeling!

Yes, some days more than others. But I know that I'm low on sleep when I can down 4 cups of coffee in under an hour in the morning.

@mynoahbear: The first month for me was the worst! Then my body got used to the short blocks of sleep. Hang in there.
The last time I felt rested was when my husband took care of LO for the 24 hrs before Mother's day. It was soooo nice. Lately, I feel like I'm running on fumes. I gotta make myself go to bed earlier.
